[George Campbell decommits]

Submitted by jasgoblue on

This is a rumor on another site (I have no access to premium content). Mods, please delete if I'm out of line, I don't want to violate the site rules and I really agree with Brian's thoughts on how we need to treat commits / recruits / kids.

With that said, rumor is that a big 2015 commit is waivering. We may need to brace ourselves for a decommit. Hopefully, Michigan fans will keep their collective cool and not lose their shit.

Edit: My info is from a free board. As a reminder, here is the MGoBlog policy on paywalled content:

2015?  My son is 2015.  He commits and decommits to a number of things every week.

He gets 3-5 letters per day from colleges (many of which he's never heard of) and he is not a potential college athlete in a revenue sport.  His letters are unrelated to any sport.

If he told me he had decided on a college I would smile and wait until the next day (and another pile of letters), when I would expect him to decide on another.

Not a college-level athlete, no recruiting calls/visits.

NEWSBREAK!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A 2015 recruit changed his mind?

Color me unsurprised (and certainly not 'upset' with him).  He is a 16 year old kid.

Good luck on a bright future wherever that may be.

is my son too. One day it is Industrial Engineering at NCState. The next it is CS at UNC. Then some kind of Music Business degree at Belmont. Then Industrial Design at NCState ... Agreed with posters above - we need to start winning again / another 2011 to keep the reason to believe up to attract these guys and give them no reason to sway.

There were some signs of his coming from his Twitter for a lil while...it is what it is.

And the fact that D. Harris has tweeted somewhat positive things about other schools (the one in C-bus in particular) can't be a great sign. He's not 100 solid either, nor should they be honestly.

Bottomline, as someone in this thread, all of this stuff will sort itself out on the field. We win games, we get big recruits. We lose games, we lose those recruits. Simple. Thats the part we need to pay the most attention to, everything else falls in line from there...

I was under the impression Harris was solid because he is a huge Michigan fan. Oh well though, and I do agree with you as far as how winning effects things. We will just have to wait and see. I don't care if we are getting 5-stars or 2-stars, my love of Michigan does not rise and fall based on the whims of teenagers.

It happens, and since he is 2015 the decommit doesn't seem to hit home to me since we wouldn't even see this kid on the field for another 2 years. At least a decommit is better than getting strung along for a year then getting dropped, amiright?

Consecutive 5 loss seasons, and some serious questions in this current coaching staffs ability to develop players; this should not come as a real surprise.

Take ten 17-year olds who commit during their junior year—regardless of where they're committing to—and it's very likely that 2 or 3 will end up changing their minds. That's the nature of teenagers, and while it sucks to lose a kid of his talent, I'm not surprised in the least that this happens. And if the above post about Damien Harris isn't snark, this may not be the last.

Those who stay will get Michigan degrees. Those who don't get a diploma with some other school's name on it.

I think he's a wait until signing day prospect.

Whatever sold him to drop MSU and "commit" to UofM...well, it might not have the same value at this point.

Yeah, kind of a strange thing to tweet.  If he wants attention, he got it.

In this era of following any gesture from commits, he may have wanted to qualify what he was talking about.

Not a surprise...#89 offense in the country and no real sign of improvement this past season. 2015 will be long recruiting cycle especially if the crap on the field continues.

Is it better to have loved and lost than to never loved at all?

This one hurts. We have some good wide recievers coming in and he does have hands problems but guys that big and fast are rare. I doubt he leaves the SEC but best of luck to him.
