OT: 6 announced transfers at Florida, all on offense

Submitted by iawolve on

Coach Boom is cleaning house or in a mess, not sure which. This includes a QB, TE, FB and 3 OL. Odd that is all on the offensive side considering Pease and OL coach are gone unless those kids absolutely loved those coaches.

Several of those are graduate transfers, so it's not necessarily a full-on dumpster fire over there.

But, they will be left with just 2 scholarship QBs, something we know too much about, unfortunately.

So will do the grad school transfer thing. To me this screams "our offense was terrible, why wasn't I playing more" type of transfers. These are competitive kids that probably think they could do better than those that are going to see the field, but also see the writing on the wall that they probably won't get that opportunity at Florida.

A few of the Florida blogs actually seem a little surprised / perplexed by Murphy's announcment that he will transfer, interestingly enough. They cite the idea that the QB job could very well have been Murphy's to lose in 2014, or at worst, he's backing someone who has a very lengthy history of injuries (Driskel, I assume) and probably would start a fair amount anyway. That seems to go back to the possibility that Tyler Murphy was not happy with that situation anyway, given that what they are describing is more or less the 2013 situation.

With as bad as that offense has been, I don't blame some guys for wanting to get out of it...especially if they couldn't get on the field in that offense.

Skyler Mornhinweg did pretty well in his stint as the starting QB. Good ol' Marty did something right, I guess.

Williams was suspended for the season opener for an alleged drug test failure, Young was an anonymous 3-star, and Silberman started the last four games for Florida this year. My guess is that the only one who would be of any interest would be Silberman, who was Rivals #71 overall player in the class of 2010, but Michigan didn't pursue him coming out of high school.
