I am sure that I went from a passable 6  to about a 2 after the thousandth go round...

maybe that comment wasn't as funny on the internet, I have certainly made it in front of my wife joking before and she laughed... and not the 'you''l pay for this later' kind of laugh...

my bad.

I'm not afraid of heights, I'm afraid of widths.

Sometimes I go downtown in my car and get a real good parking spot. And then I sit in my car and count how many people ask if I'm leaving.

I like to skate on the other side of the ice.

I like to reminisce with people I don't know

I like to fill my tub up up with water, then turn on my shower and act like a submarine that's been hit.

And I hate when my foot falls asleep during the day because that means it's going to be up all night.

Dont matta' what Daddy says, whatever Mama wants is whats going to happen.

In all seriousness, there is a long ways to go with his recruitment and anything can happen so take these statements with a grain of salt.

I think there were many that thought given our schedule and trajectory following the BCS win that we would be in contention this year.

But let's say you're right and many people weren't expecting us to be back this soon...then who thought the transition that started in 2008 should have been complete by 2010? I'm not trying to start a fight, I'm just trying to make sense out of your statement because it seemed the powers that be felt that 3 years was ample time for a transition three years ago.

I remember back in 09 saying "Wow, just wait till Denard is senior and all these recruits are finally seniors! Richrod's offense will be installed! We'll be awesome!"

Now it's "Just wait to Al Borges gets all the pieces to his offense. All this talent is gonna get there soon. We'll be awesome in a few years!"

Not trying to start a flamebait war, it's just that we've been saying the same things to ourselves for like 5 straight years now because we still aren't "there"

It's been the lament since 1973.  There has always been a stumbling block game or waiting on the right QB.  It wasn't so long ago that Drew Henson was supposed to deliver Michigan back to the promised land.  Shortly after that didn't happen Chad Henne (stolen from PSU) was the next savior.  I was overseas for the 1980s so don't have much memory of that other than Jim Harbaugh coming back in 1985 was supposed to deliver Michigan.

Or look at 1976-77-78.  Michigan had the running backs and Rich Leach beating Joe Montana in 1978...what could go wrong? Well, Purdue, Minnesota, and MSU in consecutive years is what could go wrong...that and having to play in a bowl game.

Every year for Michigan is next year and I savor every one of them with the hope that next year is the year.

In true Saban-process theory, you are never "there".  You are only as good as what you do today.  Like anything in life winning comes down to daily preperation and execution.  What you did yesterday doesn't matter any longer and what you do tomorrow won't matter if you don't take care of business today.  The only "there" is through being in the moment every moment to moment and that gives you the best chance of a good result, but gurantees you nothing.  If you're only focused on the result of winning a game, getting a recruit, beating an opponent, etc. you will never be satisfied.  You can only be satisfied with the idea that all is done to the best of your effort and let the chips fall where they may and move on.

I think the "Returning to glory since 1988" thing might have to get retired. Even if it was a flash in the pan, they were in the BCS championship game last year. Not like we've been more impressive lately (In 1997 year we didn't even have to play the #2 team to claim the national title)

That expression is really getting old, especially from a fan base like yours.  Yes your most recent (debatable) NC was 97, before that it was the 40s.  Truly amazing you keep going to that well like its the last and most familar thing to do.

You know what's amazing about a fanbase like yours? You think you're still relevant. If it wasn't for NBC, and a string of phenomenally good luck last year(aka 6 turnovers for example), kids today would probably think Notre Dame was some chick called Noder.
I think I speak for a large majority of our fanbase when I say, I like our fanbase. Yes, we will continue to bring up 1997, and the only debatable issue is which coaches did Tom Osbourne call in favors for to steal an outright national championship from the obvious best team.
Here's to hoping in 13 months we can talk about the 2014 Wolverines as the greatest team ever, so we won't have to go to the well anymore.
