Cousins seems like an all around good dude and solid football player. If he wore blue and not green we'd love him. Hope he has success. Make fun of the couch burning morons but Cousins isn't one of them.

I mostly agree with this, but his comments in 2011 about how unfair it was that Michigan got to play in the sugar bowl despite watching from the couch during the BIG championship game struck me as prototypical Sparty sour grapes. Not saying he's not a good guy, but he did lose a lot of my respect after those comments.

We WOULD be pissed, but it WOULDN'T happen to us because national TV audiences give a poop about Michigan and they do not about Sparty.  It's his fault he went to EL.  Whining about it not being fair is just silly.  We can't help what bowl folks decide just because they want the most watchable product.

Spoken as a lifelong Washingtonian and Skins fan, the chatter around Cousins getting the starting nod might have as much to do with internal team politics as it does anything else. The Post (link) ran a long story on the complete disgust that Danny Boy and Shanahan have for each other with a lot of folks suggesting that Shanahan is trying to get fired so as to collect his $7M for next season.

I think the move is utterly disinegous, if ultimately correct. RGIII is broken and needs to reast for a long time, but there is no chance Mike Shananhan gives a rats ass about next year's Washington Redskins.

There isn't much of a system to play in right now given the absolutely atrocious state of the personnel, particularly the OL and entire defense (I know that no defense doesn't have anything to do with offensive execution per se, but the team is a tire fire in every direction).

Somebody will hire the Shananhan posse, but their (specifically Mike's) cachet and value are way lower than they were before.

And I like Cousins on the Skins. He's played pretty well in the past and I think he'll be a perfectly competent replacement to the extent he can stay in the pocket for more than one second without getting crushed. But anyone that hires Shananhan based on whatever Cousins can do in the last three weeks over the (dead) body of work he's produced over three years, well that's on them.

This is an audition for Kirk for all 31 other teams (well, othe ones that need a QB).  The Redskins have very few draft picks, and netting a late first or early second rounder for him might be best for all parties involved. Considering the way he tore up the Browns last season, I wouldn't mind if the Browns used their second first rounder to try and nab him, provided the wheels dont fall off the next three weeks.  If the Browns took Sammy Watkins with their pick, and traded for Cousins with the Colts pick, then they'd have Josh Gordon, Jordan Cameron and Sammy Watkins for Cousins to throw the ball to.

I think he is a better NFL QB than a college QB. I don't know if that makes sense or how that works but he looks better in the NFL. I wasn't impressed by his career at MSU.

I like Kirk as well.  My sister, an MSU grad, is a groupie for lack of a better word.  She met him at a State game last year and he took a picture with my 8 yr old nephew and was really cool to them.  Hard to hate on a guy like that.

Seriously?  I honestly don't have an issue with the guy; I think he's not nearly as good as some people think he is at QB, but he's done nothing to offend or otherwise bother me except play at MSU.  And given he played with guys like Worthy and Gholston, I give him extra credit for not wanting to kick either of them in the balls for being idiots.

Seeing anything related to Michigan State just makes me sad these days....That's all. I have a hard time making fun of Kork Coupons right now. He is about to be a starting QB in the NFL, and the Spartans are in the Rose Bowl after embarassing OUR biggest rival...

Times have changed... Ugh.

I'm a skins fan and after watching them dominate the preseason with Cousins at the helm, there was only so much mediocrity the fanbase could stomach.  Not to hate on RG3, dude's obviously not healthy enough to be playing every sunday right now.  My only gripe is that it took so long, that San Francisco game on MNF should have been RG3's last game of the year.

Cousins gets his "big opportunity" in the NFL, and he will turn out to be best remembered as the "straw that broke the camel's back" for Shanahan's tenure in Washington.  Cousins will be remembered as a mere tool, an instrument by which Shanahan showed Snyder that he has no respect for his meddling.  This, of course, forces Snyder to fire Shanahan and give him the big buyout.

Ironically enough, Shanahan's actions are reminiscent of ex-MSU and Detroit Lions HC Darryl Rogers when he said, "What does a coach have to do around here to get fired?"

I really don't like Cousins' personality either, but this is an incredible lame meme.

Michigan couldn't beat him. Therefore, the "keep his name outcha mouf" ethic is the correct one. That is the way this sports thing works.
