Big 10 Championship Game Open Thread

Submitted by alum96 on

No meteors seem in the forecast in the greater Indiana area per NASA, so we'll be forced to watch our top 2 competitors in the East face off.  Short of a 25+ pt blowout MSU is destined for the Rose, OSU is playing for the right to give up 60 pts to Florida State.

Have at it....

and with that, I'm definitely going for MSU in this game. Urban needs to get beaten by a B1G team to wipe that smug look off his face, if only for a few seconds. I think that's going to happen tonight.

I'm wearing red and rooting for (?, not sure that's the right way to phrase that) MSU. I'm totally confused. Someone please restore order to the Force.

Well MSU goes to the Rose Bowl either way so by the theory of this game can only hurt OSU if it loses, I guess I am rooting Sparty.  Although I am faced with more Spartan fans day to day than Ohio peeps, so they will be insufferable.  I think this game is in the low to mid 30s, and comes down to the last drive.

MSU crushed NW and UM, OSU barely squeaked by both.  MSU went to Iowa and handled Iowa better than OSU did at home, etc.   Also Stanford stopped Oregon, and Ok State stopped Baylor and MSU has a better defense than those 2 teams (although Stanford is comparable) so hence my thinking Sparty has a very good chance in this one.

I know I'm basically alone here but I'm rooting for OSU to win tonight and then the MNC.  And I want Sparty to win the Rose Bowl.  I'm sick of the B1G getting slammed as a crap conference and the only way that happens is if our conference starts winning some big games.

So next year or the year after that when Michigan IS good again you cant complain if we're left out of the discussion.  The reason Auburn is being discussed this year is because Alabama & LSU and Florida won in year's past.  They are riding the conference reputation.

I want that for us.  And the only way that happens is if our teams start winning IMO.  Who else from our conference do you see as a threat to make that happen other than these two and us?  Wisconsin?

I'm only okay with OSU winning the national title if Michigan also has a great year, goes something like 12-1, with that the lone loss being a very close, tight game against OSU, and then we win a BCS game over a really good opponent, like Bama, Stanford or someone like that. And even that's a stretch. I guess I should say it minimizes the pain a little bit.

OSU winning a national title might help the Big Ten, but it does little to nothing to help Michigan. In fact, from a recruiting perspective, its about the most harmful thing that can happen to us, since we're competing for a lot of the same kids with OSU.

I don't know man... All I can do is drink heavily and be bitter. Eventually I believe my hated of State will win out and I'll just pass out... Hopefully...

Auburn is 6-0 in 1 score games.  They have to be the luckiest team in the country.  There is no way that will happen two years in a row.  They will be like Texas A&M.  When everyone else has a year of film on them it will make a big difference.

I don't know, Gus Malzahn is a great offensive mind and as long as he has a decent defense the offense probably won't slow down.

There's no doubting that he'll add some wrinkles to his team this offseason.  However, the luck part I agree with.  They have won too many close games for this to be sustainable.

and although I'm bitter the Wolverines aren't playing in the big game, I have to wonder just how much fun security will have tonight in Indy. You have perhaps the two most ignorant, out of control fan bases in the country all jam-packed into one dome. I sure hope the Indy police department opened a secondary jail tonight.

That is not a bad thing. Why the fuck would you want Ohio to get to its fourth BCS title game? That is stupid. Let Sparty get to the Rose Bowl this year (hopefully lose it) because with the new alignment next year, they will never get to the conference title game again.
