M Hockey vs US Under-18 on FSN thread
Revenge? Revenge.
Last year was the first time Michigan lost to the U-18s. A positive is Tyler Motte & J.T. Compher had a great game, which has continued into their play this year in the Maize and Blue.
Keep an eye out for 2014-15 signee Dylan Larkin. Hopefully he nets a goal and has a good game.
Game will be at 7:05pm on FS Detroit. Expect attendance to be sparse, per people I follow who are at Yost right now.
Most importantly- NO INJURIES!

you're not Center Ice!

Didn't know if he does exhibitions.
The starting lineup is interesting. Michigan will start Compher, Motte & Allen at forward. All freshmen and were at this time last year, all playing for the US U-18. Clare and Serville join them on D with Nagelvoort in goal.

7 players tonight are committed to Big Ten schools; a few notables are MSU goalie commit Ed Minney, former Michigan target and Wisconsin commit Jack Dougherty, Larkin, and the defensive duo of Jack Glover and Ryan Collins.
Starting in goal is Collin Olson, who left Ohio State earlier this season.
The big name to watch tonight is BU super recruit Jack Eichel. He's as good as they get.

This season it appears our offense is near the best in the country, but our defense can be a little porous at times. To win the national championship, we'll need to get better at not turning the puck over in our own zone.

As much as I've thoroughly enjoyed going to hockey games the past few years, this right here has always been my main issue with college hockey. It isn't televised like football or basketball, so how are you able to get a firm grasp on how good Michigan is vs. the rest of the country until late into the season? Look at stat sheets?
I've always kind of felt lost following Michigan hockey, or like I'm experiencing it in a bubble.

1-0 U-18.
Someone needs to tell Angry Matt Shepard!!! that Jack Parker retired from BU last year.
December 5th, 2013 at 7:20 PM ^
Jack Eichel, right on cue. 1-0 game.

They play such a random schedule of USHL, International and NCAA DI and DIII teams that it seems like they only have a scheduling agreement with the USHL as opposed to being a full member
December 5th, 2013 at 7:41 PM ^
The NTDP is a member of the USHL, but they're not eligible to win the Clark Cup.
It wouldn't be fair. USHL teams draft their players, the NTDP does not.
December 5th, 2013 at 7:46 PM ^
Makes sense why they aren't eligible
December 5th, 2013 at 7:36 PM ^
PK time
December 5th, 2013 at 7:41 PM ^
They are technically eligible to win the league. The U18 and U17 teams split the USHL schedule, and the U17s lose often enough that theyr'e not competitive.
The U17s play in the playoffs too because the U18s have the U18 world championships and the U17s never do that well.
December 5th, 2013 at 7:56 PM ^
Ah, fascinating. I didn't know they split time in the USHL. Explains why they never win it all even though they have all that talent

Hey has anyone heard that the Zac Brown Band is playing at Joe Louis? I didn't realize it until I just saw the commercial for it for the 30th time in the last three games and the 2nd time in that commercial break

I can't wait for Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue...
December 5th, 2013 at 7:50 PM ^
It's only an exhibition, but for a slumping goal scorer this can be a big game. We need Nieves to snap his slump tonight.
