OT - Detroit Sports - Today Sucks

Submitted by pasadenablue on

Great, so Michigan loses. The Wings are the equivalent of swiss cheese defensively, losing to St. Louis, AGAIN. Twins hold on to beat KC. And the Tigers are down 3-0 again against the Sox.

Can today get any worse?

I bet we get swept for the weekend in all sports. Hooray for Detroit! Nothing like dedicating 6 months to teams only to see them fail on the last day of the season.

But then, if you haven't experienced this before, you ain't been following Detroit sports teams long.

...Detroit teams haven't blown pennants, etc, on the last day of the season very often at all, unless you count the last loss of the playoffs as "failing."

Detroit's problem is usually getting themselves into the position to choke. I would love to see them have chances to choke more often, though, because it would mean they were winning enough to get into that position.

AAMOF, the last time I remember the Tigers losing on the last day of the season to miss the playoffs, which was actually just the World Series back then, was about 1961. Since then, on the rare occcasions they have gotten a chance, they have made it in.

I have already nominated this weekend as potentially the worst in sports history, pending the Lions/Tigers tomorrow. All in favor...

Had to put my dog down yesterday which adds to the pain of Michigan loss/ Red Wings loses yesterday and today... If the Tigers don't make it to the playoffs this will officially be the worst weekend ever.

Seems like forever ago right now. I recall that as being the Best. Weekend. Ever. Now, with everyone glooming and dooming about the Tigers, Wings and Lions, and your addition of ND and OSU (and of course MSU) winning, Sept. 12th seems like a distant memory. Must...shake...off...depression....

Yea, and even if we win that we've got the Yankees the next day since they choose the start of the series and will want to face a team with no rest days. Curse you Detroit-Sports-Hating-Gods!

I just pray for a miracle tomorrow: that we win and the Twinkees lose, and I can smile a little bit about all the energy I've placed in this Tigers team all year.

If I may repeat my comment from yesterday's game. "Is anyone less clutch than Cabrera?" He just never pulls through when you really need him to. Like Sheffield, he's good at starting a rally or piling on, but when we are down and need a clutch hit to score some runs he never comes through. $15 million, indeed.

The Tigers are really choking this thing away... Red Wings look like they are not going to be as good... blah

Too early to get on the Wings case.... remember them losing to Toronto of all teams last year on opening night? That was bad, and things still worked out alright.

Wolverines loss... hurt
Tigers loss... hurt, but was expecting it
Red Wings loss... sucks, but very early
Lions VICTORY... it'd make me crack a smile

Let's Go Honolulu Blue and Silver!!
