I suppose I don't get the WR selections - well, I get Allen Robinson, but Jared Abbredaris was less prolific than Gallon as a WR statistically. He was Big Ten Offensive POTW twice, second in Big Ten receiving yards per game, I believe. I wonder what the rationale was for this decision, because I don't see where they were going with it.

doesn't tell me anything about a CB's play on the field. Their job is to cover WRs and their stats should be zero across the board which means the QBs avoided going after them.  You can get a lot of INT and tackles if QBs keep picking on you which means more opportunities for them to accumulate stats.

I'm surprised that "yards per attempt against" and "completion percentage against" isn't a standard metric for DBs. I agree that INTs and PBUs are pretty meaningless. It doesn't seem like it'd take much extra work to calculate these stats. It's like judging a QB just on the number of TDs he throws; it tells you something, but only a fraction of what some slightly more advanced stats tell you.

I think you have a point, but it's overstated.  Cornerbacks shouldn't be putting up zeros in tackles. Every defense is going to need its corners to come through in run support at times. And INTs are a pretty big deal - they can be game-changers.  (The fundamental goal of any defense is to get itself off the field, so you can't really downplay a takeway.)  Woodson had 8 picks in 1997 and it seemed like every one came at a big moment.

Other than the Wisconsin game, Roby played very well. He didn't morph into the defensive black hole that the preseason hype exploded to (which was ridiculous and admittedly, we Buckeye fans added to), but I didn't see any corners who were truly better in the Big Ten. He is certainly the best CB against the run and on the blitz in the league.

From a non-Michigan fan point of view, I can see both sides. Gallon was as valuable as any WR in the league. In my mind, he was every bit as good as Abbrederis. But in this case, I think the Indiana game actually hurt him with non-Michigan based viewers. I've seen a lot of people reference his production, but then add in an "of course, a chunk of that came against Indiana who is terrible". Obviously, this is an illogical stance to take because a player who explodes like that and then has very good games the rest of the season shouldn't be penalized. But I think between that and Abbrederis coming in with more preseason hype you get your second team answer.

I thought this last week sealed Gallon as a first teamer. He beat Abbrederis in literally every categorey: receptions, yards, touchdowns per game and total. Gallon also had a higher yards per reception average and a longer longest reception.

Connor Cook is 71st in the nation in passing yards, just over 2000 on the season, and there isn't another QB in the conference I would put on the 2nd team over him.

All those TOs was 3 INTs and, 3-4 fumbles. If you are remembering the interceptions vs Akron and UConn, a) those shouldn't count in all-b10, and b) I don't think you want to compare ND games for those guys.

If I were a betting man, I would bet against Cook having 300 yards vs OSU this week, and I would bet against MSU putting 30 on the board. But I guess we will see.

There are a variety of reasons MSU had a better year this year, QB play isn't one of them

Cook 304 yards passing

MSU 34 points

In response to SDCran betting MSU would not achieve these stats..Good thing your not a betting man.

Surprised Gardner didn't get 2nd team All BIG. I bet BIG defensevie Co's. lost more sleep Sunday thru Friday game planning against Gardner then they did planning against Cook.

That Devin isn't the 2nd team QB is terrible.  Looking at just B1G games (since that is all that should be considered in these things):

Gardner 150-244 (61.5%) 2159 yds, 14 TD, 3 INT, 152.3 Rating

Cook 134-223 (60.1%), 1708 yds, 12 TD, 4 INT, 138.6 Rating

Scheelhasse 205-308 (66.6%), 2110 yds, 9 TD, 10 INT, 127.3 Rating

That doesn't even add in the rushing component.  Just because Michigan's interior OL was a tire fire doesn't mean Devin wasn't a beast at QB.  Maybe this is like baseball and every team has to be represented so we don't offend anyone?

I am very Proud of our Wolverines..... From Devin and all the players. You showed what true heart was and nver quit.  I can't tell you how proud of you i am. And all of the Coaches, GREAT call at the end of that game. I wouldnt have wanted it any other way. I am a proud wolverine today because of you kids. Thanks for making us proud. I will take 7-5 over 12-0 if you always show the class you did on saturday. CLASS means so much more then being a Buckeye.

I made it to 9 of your 12 games this year and loved every minute of them. EVEN the bad games. But again i am very proud of you kids and coaches. Thanks and GO BLUE!!!!!
