Hey guys. I did not do the UFR this week, because I really did not want to do it. So I didn't. This is what I mean by mailing it in. I'm sorry, but not sorry enough to actually go do it. Obviously.

I will try to muster the courage to do so at some point in the future, because it is nice to have completeness. Right now you could hold a gun to my cat's head and threaten me and I would look on blankly until you cracked and started weeping and I told you It's Not Your Fault™. You're not actually going to kill a kitten about this, are you? Okay, okay, it's a cat, not a kitten. Put the gun down! It's Not Your Fault™! Unless you do something you're going to regr—

Hmm. Well, if you had to go at least it was before Saturday. We will put your MGoPoint total on your tombstone.

What's going on. I am going to go home and have a normal Thanksgiving like a normal person like I used to do before they moved the Ohio State game back a week for dubious reasons. I am not going to put up a UFR on the day itself, because I didn't do it. There will be a preview on Friday, though if I had to bet I'm assuming it will be light on useful analysis and heavy on gallows humor shirt-rending about how Ohio State has a good football team and Michigan does not have a good football team.

Then we are going to grit our teeth and get through Saturday, whereupon we will feel much better at the prospect of a weekend with nothing more horrifying in it than the prospect of Michigan State and Ohio State playing for the Big Ten Championship… godddammit. At least you don't have to watch that if you don't want.

You're free! FREEEEEEE. After Saturday. I'll see you Friday.

In conclusion. Butt.

Has lost his marbles& so has half our fan base. We are having a bad year. The offense is broke& needs to be fixed. It's a combination of youth/coaching/play calling. It will get fixed one way or another& our o line will get more experienced.

The defense is good now& is only going to get better next year. We have great recruits coming in& we are getting yo the point where we have depth& competition at every position.

It's time to cut the emo crap. This site is getting unbearable& our panicked fan base is only serving to destabilize our program& recruiting. Get a grip people. It's a bad year; It happens. Better times are ahead!

et al.

But not Al.

Maybe Al if he pulls a miracle out of his ass.

I am thankful for this blog. And for it keeping me sane at work. And for basketball season & hockey season. I am thankful the Lions have let me down enough time to know how to react when M does it. I am thankful for having enough leftovers from thanksgiving that I can go into a food coma until work begins again on Monday.

Go Blue. Beat Ohio.

Or at least keep it close?

They'll play their asses off I'm sure.  They'll probably still lose, perhaps by quite a bit, because OSU is a better football team with a better system, better playcalling, and overall just a better outfit.  Even if UM pulls the massive upset (and you better believe a 7-4 team stumbling down the stretch beating an undefeated team would be one of the biggest upsets of the year), it won't change the fact that this season has been well below expectations for most and, at the very least, not inspiring about the direction of the team going forward.

But no, keep believing that a guy tired of watching crappy football is acting like the world is ending because he's telling his readership not to expect a column they usually get on Wednesday.

Not too far from many who thought we would lose 4 this season. I'm sure there's always fans who think we will go undefeated each season. Most of us knew this team had OL problems. I suppose that I'm most disappointed that the OL did not improve through the season. This points back to coaching!

Okay so we're close to the predicted record, that isn't the point. It's the fact that take away the Notre Dame game, this team has played poorly, and the offense has regressed. I think we'd all take 8-4 if we showed signs of improvement, but there isn't any.

We had not yet been exposed.  Our leading rusher was DG, most of whose yards came on scrambles up the middles.  ND didn't send the interior LB crossing blitzes that have devastated us since, so DG had plenty of open lanes when the protection broke down.  We could hardly run the ball otherwise.  Fitz had 22 carries for 71 yards (3.2 per). We had 6 penalties, and a horrendous bad decision TO.

Penn State exposed our tendencies, then Michigan State exposed our G-C-G play.  Akron and UConn actually started exposing those flaws, but then more talented teams were able to exploit those into wins.

We weren't better then, we just hadn't been found out.

But this might be as good a time as any while we're ornery to complain about how stupid it was for the Big Ten to cave and move the season a week deeper into the year so the players can't go home with their families and the students aren't around just so they can have their last game closer to the time people put in the final vote (even though it's not that far with a Big Ten title game now) which helped nothing at all because even a 2 year undefeated OSU team isn't getting into the title game unless someone else loses in which case the timing of their last game means nothing so the whole thing screws everything up for everybody with no tangible benefit.

Whew.

Thanks, Delany!

I won't cancel my subscription to this here blog.  No need for further review.

At the Notre Dame game I sat next to a guy in his sixties.  He spent the whole game watching the cheerleaders with his binoculars.  When they were on the bigscreen, he pointed his binoculars at it the bigscreen, better to make out the pixels one-by-one.

Maybe one of us could contribute a really great cheerleader UFR.

Hey folks,

I didn't join this party until RR's 2nd season. I only experienced one great season and few (this one included) okay ones. Most people do not have the Big Ten, Michigan, or any football for that matter. Be thankful for it all and all of its flaws. Enjoy Thanksgiving and the people close to you.

Special shout out to the Mgofamily for taking my football knowledge to a level that I did not realize existed for fans.

life's too short, my friend.

eat.  have a glass of wine.  flirt with your baby niece, if you have one.  hold your wife's hand under the table.  go for a walk.  sleep in.

happy thanksgiving.

Happy Turkey Day, Brian. Go get laid. Vigorously. Come back refreshed and ready to roll next week. It'll officially be basketball season, and we can fully turn our attentions to John Beilein.

You've spent countless hours doing this stuff to create a blog with legit content.  Don't leave gaps.  The blog and the UFR's need to be whole.

On that note, Happy Thanksgiving.  I give thanks that I have a place to come and bitch and vent about our football team with actual data and pictures and analysis provided by the contributors on this blog.  I hope things stay the way they were before the season began around here.

Seriously.  Is it going to become "we only get UFRs when we win" type of thing?  It's not my blog, but that's kinda lame.  I'm sorry we aren't going to win the Big Ten this year, but some of us are still Michigan fans despite this. Maling it in?  You're better than that.

Everyone is allowed to take a day off.  And honestly, what great insights are we going to get from the UFR that we haven't seen the first 10 games.  If he wants to spend his holiday relaxing and not scrambling to get more content up, more power to him.  I certainly don't hold my breath for the UFRs every week.

I love it how you're not upset about missing this UFR, and then later say you don't really like it anyway.

Personally, I think its the best part of the site.  I like to see how the players grade out from game to game.  If Willie Henry had a particularly good game or Kalis had a particularly bad one, I'm interested to read about it.  Just because you don't like the UFR doesn't mean the rest of us share your feelings.

This is like the person who said "I don't see anything wrong with the new seat cushion rule.  But I've never brought a seat cushion."
