(ESPN RUMOR) Potential Coaching Moves

Following the Wolverines' loss to Iowa on Saturday in which it was outgained 407 yards to 158 by the Hawkeyes and blew a 21-7 halftime lead, Michigan is 7-4 and Brady Hoke is approaching hot-seat territory. Some coaches I spoke with this week said, at the very least, he will likely have to part ways with offensive coordinator Al Borges. (If Michigan does open again, either this year or next, one trusted college football source suggested that LSU coach Les Miles could finally head home to his alma mater. “I’ll bet that’s where he goes and retires,” the source said.)

Mods feel free to delete if you think it's too much info from a paywalled article.

None of these things will happen. I hate speculation like this. It does nothing but increase instability in the program and I don't think it should be posted here.

Just watch when the Texas job opens up. Fuck online flight tracking, there will be fans with makeshift spy drones set to follow and record the movements of every decent coach in football due to an incredibly elaborate scheme where they implant every one of them with GPS tracking chips.

Les Miles is not coming here.  He has said no twice.  Why would he leave the SEC and LSU?  It's disgustingly easy to recruit down there and he his family loves it.  Oh yeah, and he's well paid.  People are so, so impatient.  Let's jump on the coaching carosel and jack things up for a few more years.  Great idea.  Can we give one coach 4 years?  Please??

that he said "No" twice?  Just  because he is not the coach does not mean he said no.  My guess is that he said "YES" but because of the distant indescretion by Mr. Miles left many powerful people in AA, a little apprehensive.

Now that Mary Lou is gone, that clears the way for Les.  I have not seen where DB comes down on the issue because he was not on campus when the alledged incident took place.

Moeller is getting old, Carr is long gone, Bo Jr probably does not care, ML is heading for AA (not Ann Arbor the other AA).

If Brady does get the axe, I will put money that Les will come home.

This is pretty much the glaring question mark right now. At the end of the day, this is a guy who needed an entire bowl prep, an embarrassing blowout bowl loss, and two full days of sitdowns to fire Rich Rodriguez. "The Process."

In contrast, USC's AD leaves Lane Kiffin's bag on the bus in week 5, and they've gone, what, 6-1 since. "The Process" that was not.

So I guess I just wonder what "The Process" looks like this time around if we indeed get to see the sequel. I'm not optimistic.

You are overlooking one key detail: from what I've heard, that was done to accommodate a certain Mr. Harbaugh's timetable.  Harbaugh wanted to coach Stanford in its BCS bowl and then he'd make a decision.  As it turned out, he reportedly "committed" to us around Christmastime, only to "decommit" after a chat with the wife, who wanted to stay in California.

—directly told to me by an alumni player who played for Bo—Brandon made the decision to hire Hoke at the 2010 UM football golf outing. Implausible? Sure, but has anybody ever provided any hard evidence that the job was offered to Harbaugh, either?

Not that it matters now...

Shit, I had someone I consider to be an unimpeachable source tell me face-to-face, on campus, in that deranged coaching search in 2007 that Les was a 100% done deal. In the bag, completely done, no wiggle room. Shortly thereafter, the infamous Gameday rumor/press conference.

The fact of the matter is these coaching searches we've had the past few years have been pretty much dumpster fires all around. All sorts of rumors, and it seems no one who really knows what's going on. Even the people making the decisions.

Brandon had barely been on the job a year when he fired RR.  I suspect he will not hesitate to make whatever move necessary to protect the golden goose of the athletic department, however I don't think there's a ghost of a chance Hoke gets canned this season.  Borges, yes I think he's in big trouble, but that should be Hoke's call, not Brandon's.  If Brandon is making decisions about Hoke's staff behind the scenes then Hoke is gutless.  I prefer to think he's not gutless.

Yup.  Same thought here.  Funny people have ever seriously thought Lester was a candidate.  The "candicacy" came from Batan Rouge last time, and will likley again.  Bus has sailed Lester you're not welcome in A2.

Not welcome in AA? Why the hell not? I would take miles in a heartbeat. Guy is a proven winner at a high level. This is exactly the kind of coaching hire Michigan needs to make. Not to mention he has the Michigan man label that everyone wants.

is intriguing. Unless I've missed it, he hasn't uttered a word since this whole tumble began. No, "I stand by Brady", no "he's our guy and we need to be patient", no nothing.

In the latest Wolverine Magazine there is a whole page blurb about Brandon's stance on Michigan and Brady hoke and how the season has gone..

He says Hoke is the man for the job, and that we are 2 plays away from being a 1 loss team (the article was before yesterday clearly)..  But you could add 3 plays away..

Then he goes on to talk about the Offensive line issues and offensive problems, and discusses all the youth we have playing etc..  Did say stuff about the offense needs to improve etc into next year
