the biggest strike is how we get worse every week. Amazing.
November 23rd, 2013 at 3:45 PM ^
Every week, every year.
November 23rd, 2013 at 3:39 PM ^
and Borges is just bad. End of story.
November 23rd, 2013 at 3:40 PM ^
Borges is the worst play caller I have ever seen. There is absolutely no continuity or theme to his offense - just a random collection of seemingly ill-timed plays. There is no way our players are just this bad!!
November 23rd, 2013 at 3:45 PM ^
How can it be random when he runs the same play back to back to back. Loved the fake throw-run the first 25 times they ran it and especially loved the back to back reverses. Brilliant
November 23rd, 2013 at 3:51 PM ^
Shhhhhh!
Don't let Ohio State know about it.
November 23rd, 2013 at 3:45 PM ^
I disagree. The offensive line, is in fact, this bad. Historically bad. It's on the players, youth, coaching, everything. They simply can't effectively block anyone.
The question is, who is to blame for that?
November 23rd, 2013 at 3:49 PM ^
The offensive line has played horribly, but there is no way they are simply not talented/smart enough to succeed. They are playing to the level they are coached.
November 23rd, 2013 at 3:40 PM ^
I want RR back.
November 23rd, 2013 at 3:51 PM ^
No thanks. RR and Hoke are about the same thing...
RR- Top 10 offense, bottom 10 defense
cHoke- Top 10 defense, bottom 10 offense
November 23rd, 2013 at 3:40 PM ^
It's not a Saturday if I'm not pissed off, so thanks for not changing it, Al.
November 23rd, 2013 at 3:42 PM ^
how the fuck do you get outcoached by Greg Davis?
November 23rd, 2013 at 3:43 PM ^
Fire Borgess, fire Wellman, Fire Funk. Hire a younger, less obese OC. Hire a crazy, loud strength coach to strengthen the lines.
November 23rd, 2013 at 3:44 PM ^
Trust me
November 23rd, 2013 at 3:45 PM ^
Good point about wellman. It seems as if everyone, including Akron players were as strong or stronger then our players which is incredibly unacceptable.
November 23rd, 2013 at 4:09 PM ^
Mattison called Wellman "the best in the business". Can't be the same Wellman,
November 23rd, 2013 at 3:44 PM ^
Anyone that can still openly support Borges with a straight face is either void of emotion or one hell of a poker player.
November 23rd, 2013 at 3:44 PM ^
Not looking forward to next week. OSU will look to embarrass us because they need the style points. Our D, will keep us in it for a half at best.... but eventually after all the 3 and outs they will roll us by 4 or 5 touchdowns....easy. I hope I'm not right but the odds are not in our favor.
November 23rd, 2013 at 3:55 PM ^
Do you seriously think that there are any style points possible for beating a 7-4 downtrodden Michigan team this year?
The only good thing is that we will drop Ohio State's standing in the rankings simply by showing up on the field next Saturday.
November 23rd, 2013 at 3:44 PM ^
Even the Big10 network talking heads are laughing at us!!!
November 23rd, 2013 at 3:44 PM ^
Tweet him and let him know how you feel.
Lord knows he loves Twitter.
November 23rd, 2013 at 3:45 PM ^
...let me gather my thoughts before I say something irrational, since I'm supposed to "tread lightly". The offensive production of this team, especially from week 3 to now (Indiana excluded) has been pathetic. We rarely have long, time consuming, defense draining drives. We try to run dive, iso and power up the gut against 8 and 9 man fronts and expect good results. Most negative plays in the nation. Lack of adjustments. Poor player development. Before today we hadnt scored a regulation td since Nebraska. This is the worst offense I've seen from Michgian, and before someone uses some stats from like the 50's, fuck off. Fuck Borges, fuck Funk, fuck Fred Jackson for not teaching these backs to pass protect better.
November 23rd, 2013 at 3:45 PM ^
The players deserve better. Poor choice 3 years ago and we are seeing the results of hiring a coach with a 47 and 50 record.
November 23rd, 2013 at 3:48 PM ^
I loved the hire for his passion; in business terms, not good.
November 23rd, 2013 at 4:00 PM ^
I think a lot of us were weary of the Hoke hire, but getting Mattison and then the 2011 season just disarmed our correct reservations. An elite CEO-style coach is already planning his next OC and I doubt Hoke is doing that.
November 23rd, 2013 at 3:45 PM ^
did you guys watch the same game I did? This is all on the players. Throw the fucking ball, catch the fucking ball, run the fucking ball, hold the fucking ball and don't run backwards. You keep blaming Borges, but the players did not do their part. This is on the players period! All game, not just the 2nd half.
November 23rd, 2013 at 3:47 PM ^
Who's responsible for developing and making the players improve/perform? Are Saban and Meyer just really lucky because their players never have bad days? Yeah, this is on the coaches. This whole season is.
November 23rd, 2013 at 3:47 PM ^
Or they were highly overrated recruits. Michigan on paper rivals OSU in talent! But good coaches like at MSU can coach up players. I don't see this happening here.
November 23rd, 2013 at 3:52 PM ^
This. Our players are not developing whatsoever, and that lands squarely on the coaches.
November 23rd, 2013 at 3:53 PM ^
The occasional mistake can be put on the shoulders of a player; a systematic regression across nearly all fronts is on the coaches.
November 23rd, 2013 at 3:50 PM ^
I respectfully disagree. Players drop passes and make little mistakes in every game. The issue is that our scheme only seems to generate handful of good plays per game and when someone drops the ball it a just gets magnified. These mistakes kill drives and turn TDs into FGs. They don't explain 158 total yards of offense.
November 23rd, 2013 at 3:55 PM ^
Would have had over 200 if Funchess didn't wear bricks as hands today.
November 23rd, 2013 at 3:56 PM ^
Would have had 250 if our QB didn't break the pocket backwards or laterally versus stepping into or running forward.
November 23rd, 2013 at 3:56 PM ^
Perfectly stated. In the Liveblog I said "If our WR's caught 100% of the passes thrown to them, and the OL never missed a block, Borges would be a genius." My point was that no teams' players will ever execute perfectly, and if that's what it takes for your offense to succeed, then it's simply not a viable offense.
November 23rd, 2013 at 4:47 PM ^
I don't expect 100%, but I expect better than 46%. That is on the players.
November 23rd, 2013 at 4:18 PM ^
I understand, but today it was the snowball effect. I don't think we're just worried about yardage here. How many dropped passes would've been first downs and kept the drive alive? I don't back Borges or Funk and wouldn't mind if they're gone after this year. Game in and game out we blame the coaches, when today I feel it is completely on the players. They were put in a position to make the play but didn't. So when Hoke comes out during post game and says his usual, "We didn't execute" I will agree this time. Tough year this year. Hydrate and press on.
November 23rd, 2013 at 4:41 PM ^
Hoke is going to be only as good as the coaches he is surrounded by. Such is personal life and business life. Michigan has unlimited funds and we should start shaking our money tree at some well qualified, already employed, OC, OL and QB coaches. Fuck the bullshit!
November 23rd, 2013 at 3:45 PM ^
This is not pretty, and the same standard should be applied to him as was applied ot Rich Rod. Borges and Funk should be gone, minimum.
November 23rd, 2013 at 3:47 PM ^
Our staff seems really unintelligent. I listen to them and watch their product and I think, "You just aren't very smart people."
November 23rd, 2013 at 5:54 PM ^
I remember watching Brady in his initial press conference way back when and thinking the same thing, but then I watched the reactions of everyone else watching it, and they loved him! So I figured my judgment was poor. I did then try to have an open mind, but now can't shake my initial response.
November 23rd, 2013 at 3:46 PM ^
can be a difficult place for David Brandon, Brady Hoke and Al Borges to hide.
7-5 is in the bag.
On to more serious questions: Can these shaky coaches hang on to Michigan's recruits?
November 23rd, 2013 at 3:46 PM ^
3rd and 5 and run the option with the fullback as the pitch man. Sigh...... I am finally on the fire Borges side.
Now.....Beat OSU!
November 23rd, 2013 at 3:46 PM ^
The season ended for me today. No point in even watching next week's public execution. Changes need to be made. However, none will be forthcoming. Michigan... aka... the Exxon Valdez, will stay the course.
November 23rd, 2013 at 3:46 PM ^
I'm done with this shit. I'm not renewing my season tickets. It's to painful to watch this bullshit. This team is underachieving and nothing against the players to the team, the coaches are just not good. I'll watch and support from my tv, but spending $1,000's to watch this product in person is not worth it. Not at all.
November 23rd, 2013 at 3:47 PM ^
Brady needs to walk his fat ass back to Ball State - though I doubt they'd even want him back there.
November 23rd, 2013 at 3:47 PM ^
I have been a Hoke supporter, however, while the offense is indeed horrible, this team and last years team did not improve, neither have been properly prepared for games and , the entire staff is regularly out coached . There are player issues, but there is talent. It's up to coaches to get. a QB in place that can lead and win. The biggest issue is these players are not playing anywhere near their capabilities- that'd coaching. Yeah, the defense is better than the offense, but still poor in many phases such that Mattison is not the savior everyone thinks. Time to make the change because this staff is not moving forward, they are moving backward. Next week will deal the deal.
November 23rd, 2013 at 3:49 PM ^
but please fire Funk at the end of the season too!
November 23rd, 2013 at 3:50 PM ^
Michigan-Where no yardage is better than negative yardage.

Jesus, I was thinking of doing a diary on a study that shows significantly reduced brain capacity in obese individuals...
we're talking 50 year olds getting outperformed on mental motor tasks by 80 year olds.
Then I thought no... I'm taking it too far. At least I'm not alone.
