OT: Tigers Vs. Twins 10/1/09

If Robertson has a good showing is he the 4th pitcher in the rotation for when the playoffs start? The tigers need to close today so J.V can rest and be ready to face C.C in game 1.

Even if robertson pitches a no hitter today leave him out of the playoffs, especially as a starter. He and dontrelle have basically been stealing from the tigers after they signed contracts. JV, Jackson, Porcello are good for ALDS. Add anyone not named robertson for the 4th starter in ALCS. Go tigers!

I think he has to be. While Bonine has been solid his last two starts, Nate has the experience and had the ability to go deeper into games. Also, it would be important to have a lefty in there to mix up the line-ups. Unless Washburn makes a remarkable recovery, Nate's gotta be the guy. Go Tigers, win it today!

I think hes gotta be in the mix if he can last 7 r 8 quality innings and deal with the pressure. Then hes gotta be considered for the 4th spot. We need a lefty. We all know who our top 3 are but they cant pitch every game. Someone needs to step up and i hope its Nate.

I think Robertson goes to the bullpen if he's solid today....situational lefty. Good thing they'll only need 3 pitchers to sweep the Yankees. Go Tigers!

Anyone else think maybe they should start Robertson or Washburn or someone in game 1? I know it sounds insane, but think about it. You come back with Verlander in game 2, Jackson in 3, Porcello in 4, and back to Verlander in 5. I know it kind of seems like forfeiting game one, but someone has to go up against CC and I don't like wasting Verlander. If we do it this way, I'd say the Tigers have the pitching advantage in games 2-4 and 5 is a wash. Just a thought...

No because you're saying Sabathia is better than Verlander. Verlander has a power arm and those kind of arms win in the playoffs. Verlander could easily shut down the Yankees game 1 and send New York into a frenzy. They'd be down 0-1 with CC already gone. You throw Verlander, Jackson, and Porcello at them. If game 4 is needed then you go with whoever Leyland has in mind. To my knowledge Washburns been hurt and I dont think his first game back is a playoff game against the Yankees. Plus it's be better to use Verlander for game 5 with 3 games in between and not 2.

I can see what you're saying on all of it. I don't think it really is saying that Sabathia is better than Verlander, it's more that the chances of the Tigers' weak bats coming through with more than one or two runs against him aren't very good. So do you want to lose 2-1 or 6-1? It doesn't matter, you still lose. Again, just a thought.

what is with the "chris" everett love. i know he's good defensively, but probably only marginally better than santiago. he absolutely should never start against righties. EVER. he's ok against lefties. santiago is a much better hitter and should get significantly more at bats than everett.
