Hoke Monday presser

- Offense needs to work on finishing better in the redzone
- Need to improve on 3rd down
- Derrick and Deveon did a nice job
- Gallon jumping on the ball on the punt to save time was a smart football play
- FG at the end of regulation: Dileo made a great effort, Gibby did well, Glanda's snap was good, team did a "tremendous job"
Q&A:
- On Fitz starting next week: "We'll see."
EDIT: extras via Twitter:
Hoke said Toussaint had "a little bit of a concussion"..practiced during week but didn't practice enough...expects him to practice this week

Hoke, on the development of Shane Morris, "Probably has about 75-80% of a grasp on the offense (now), in September it was probably 45-50%."

somehow we are going to win out. IDK how, but we will
November 18th, 2013 at 1:14 PM ^
I like marijuana also. Please give me what you have.

That's the key. Hire Carl Pelini to give Braxton Miller et al a sample, and record it. Then release it a few days before the game. If OSU covers it up, asterisk. If they don't then it should be a somewhat competitive game.

Guiton is a senior.

November 18th, 2013 at 1:50 PM ^
FYI, Guiton is a Senior.
November 18th, 2013 at 1:50 PM ^
Guiton is a senior and Braxton can leave after this year. That doesn't make me think they are set for years.

November 18th, 2013 at 2:31 PM ^
OSU-watchers seem to think there's a good chance he'll leave for the NFL after this year, but he is a junior.
November 18th, 2013 at 3:17 PM ^
No chance he is leaving. Urban will convince him to stay. Come on now.
November 18th, 2013 at 2:19 PM ^
November 18th, 2013 at 5:18 PM ^
I heard a rumor that Guiton is a senior but I can't remember where I heard that now.
November 18th, 2013 at 5:19 PM ^
AFAIK FYI FWIW Guiton is a senior IIRC

That run and the dunk by Stauskas were probably the two most enjoyable moments of watching Michigan sports in a while.
November 18th, 2013 at 3:33 PM ^
Do either of you remember what portion of the game that was in?
November 18th, 2013 at 8:56 PM ^
I think it was the portion when they weren't scoring a lot of points.
November 18th, 2013 at 1:07 PM ^
Please have a plan of attack against Ohio State. Please have a plan of attack against Ohio State. Please have a plan of attack against Ohio State. Their defense is average. Chew as much clock as possible
November 18th, 2013 at 1:08 PM ^
What if their plan of attack is a bunch of Tackle Over? And 1 man routes?
November 18th, 2013 at 1:36 PM ^
You're wanting an offense that has scored 1 regulation TD in 12 quarters against mediocre defenses 2/3rds of that time to have a plan of attack against an Ohio team that has scored 26 TDs in that same stretch... 26 TDs vs 1 TD... JBT man... the emotional hedge is in order.
November 18th, 2013 at 1:39 PM ^
Our offense is facing their defense, not their offense.
November 18th, 2013 at 3:50 PM ^
26/12*4*7= 60 pts. We need to produce 61 points of offense to win this game.
OSU's defense ain't Indiana's ...
November 18th, 2013 at 4:16 PM ^
Hey now, both defenses held Illinois to 35 points! Transitive property works here, right?
November 18th, 2013 at 3:52 PM ^
and normally I would jump at this one, but the line is likely going to be OSU minus googolplex.
November 18th, 2013 at 1:11 PM ^
that stating Fitz starting is a "we'll see" situation, is just coach speak and that he saw with his own eyes that the 2 frosh RB's are better than Fitz.
They ran harder and hit the hole quicker, they certainly weren't any worse at blocking, pretty hard to be worse to begin with. Please play the 2 frosh so that they don't even think about transferring and more importantly, getting some experience for next year.
Look, I appreciate seniors and what they've done and been through, but the better players need to play, it's a very simple concept. Hoke needs to decide, are we going to coddle players or try to win while still treating players fairly.
November 18th, 2013 at 1:29 PM ^
I agree with you in general, but freshman -- even highly recruited ones -- should probably not take the "I'm going to play immediately or transfer" attitude. Football is not like basketball where one freshman recruit can make a large difference.
November 18th, 2013 at 4:37 PM ^
The frosh RBs need to play because they are so much better at blocking and, frankly, running the ball effectively. I always thought Fitz was wildly overrated. Have you even seen a guy get tackled by a shirt pull more often than him. Plus, he just can't block. Period. Time to move on. Give Green a majority of the carries. Have Fitz take about a third and we will be fine.
November 18th, 2013 at 1:14 PM ^
but I really liked Green in place of Fitz. A few times Green used his shoulder and bowled into defenders and I loved it. I think that 'light' is coming on that's saying "I am heavier than every LB and DB on the field. I will punish them". He looked good
After reading Brian's write-up, I'm curious if the few times we threw a bubble screen aided the running game tremendously. We had more running room than we've had in weeks
November 18th, 2013 at 1:29 PM ^
Sure they are valid. If your question is, "will sticking my sensitive areas in a light socket hurt?" one trial is usually enough to confirm or refute that hypothesis.
That said, I agree with your conclusion
November 18th, 2013 at 2:13 PM ^
"Usually?"
November 18th, 2013 at 3:43 PM ^
If it's not a live electrical recepticle, it could take you a few tries.
November 18th, 2013 at 3:56 PM ^
You guys can fit your genitals into a light socket?
November 18th, 2013 at 5:11 PM ^
November 18th, 2013 at 1:20 PM ^
Is the Gardner couldn't feel his left arm thing due to the weather or an injury?
November 18th, 2013 at 1:23 PM ^
I'd assume it's the endless barrage of hits he's taken from 300 pound lineman. Our o-line coaching sucks!
November 18th, 2013 at 2:47 PM ^
Not according to our All-American, top 10 Draft Pick (as of last season).
November 18th, 2013 at 3:16 PM ^
Yea him and Schofield haven't looked stellar either.
November 18th, 2013 at 3:45 PM ^
Other than against Michigan State, Lewan has looked fine. All-American's have bad games too, ya know.
November 18th, 2013 at 3:51 PM ^
IIRC. But I agree that he's looked very good overall.
November 18th, 2013 at 4:31 PM ^
I think it was a funky formation that took him out of his normal position. Still, you'd like to see him dominate.
November 18th, 2013 at 9:20 PM ^
November 18th, 2013 at 1:24 PM ^
He has been beat up this year.
November 18th, 2013 at 1:26 PM ^
it was actually around 50 degrees for the game, the wind was bad but other than that weather didnt affect much outside field conditions.
November 18th, 2013 at 1:23 PM ^
"a little bit of a concussion"
That doen't sound good.
November 18th, 2013 at 1:31 PM ^
Hoke, on the development of Shane Morris, "Probably has about 75-80% of a grasp on the offense (now), in September it was probably 45-50%."
So he knows 3 of our 4 plays now?
I kid, I kid. Just a standard predictable offense joke.
Loved Green and Deveon Smith in there. Vividly remember Green bulldozing one of the defenders and it was nice. I appreciate Fitz's contributions but he's starting to suffer from our offense IMO. He was meant to be speedy and run in space, not big and plow over defenders. While it's hard to take too much away from one game, our RB position could be looking much more promising with these two.
November 18th, 2013 at 1:33 PM ^
But this sir, was BRILLIANT.
Well done, nice little Monday chuckle.
