Tuesday Night NCAA BBall Open Thread

Submitted by Bill the Butcher on

MSU vs UK about to start the second half and Kansas and Duke to follow.

Figured we should have an open thread for these games.

How far are these schedules made in advance?  MSU is very smart to play a talented, but freshman-loaded team that will likely improve throughout the season and make this win (should they win) look very good.

Very minor statistical snapshot of the Kentucky-MSU game as we type:

Kentucky effective FG% - 52.94%

Michigan State effective FG% - 57.14%

The gap slowly narrows for the time being in this one. Lots of time left though.

"Great athlete, no way he's the top pick in the draft. Julius Randle is better. There's just way too much hype. His skill level is average. He made a few shots but plays straight up and down and doesn't have any playmaking skills. Everything has to be a straight-line drive. Right now, he's the third- or fourth-best player for Kansas. He's long and athletic but has a long way to go."

That was one scouts early assessment.

He has been pushing this 'Wiggins is not that great' agenda for months and will find or make up anything to prove his point. No scout worth his salt would say, "no way he goes number 1." They might say that they doubt he does because they like someone else better but Wiggins is way too talented no know what he cieling is yet.

Yes and RPI. You want all Michigan opponents to win and within Big Ten play you want double plays over single plays for the most part. Very good night for Michigan future opponents. Florida and Kentucky are nice scalps for the Big Ten.

Take that evil empire.

only able to catch the end of the game here.  Greatly conflicted, but I think I'm pulling for the BIG TEN (which by default, means MSU).  I hate the UK-all-top-10-recruits approach to college basketball - and understand it's likely fair play.  But damn, want to see them go down and position B1G atop college basketball.

It will mean even more when we beat them.

Oh, and Duke is a bunch of uncle toms.  /Jalen'd

This Kentucky team is young and plays dumb. They'll no doubt get better but they do some stupid shit out there; Sparty on the other hand isn't as "talented" but plays much more sound basketball, experience being a big part of that.

I think you have to foul if you're uk there. Can't let them run the clock down to 5 seconds. Even if you get a stop you're facing a frantic possession and very little time.
