Michigan opens as 3pt underdog at NW..

Fire Borges.

How bad have things gotten at Michigan? They're a 3-pt underdog this week at 0-5 (in B1G) Northwestern.

I'd lay the points here and would bet hard on NW.  I'll bet that line moves to about 6 or 7 by gametime.

With Borges running the show we absolutely suck and EVERYBODY knows it....

The money that you are not spending on renewing your tickets next year.  As I turned the game off I thought about your statement on not being too "thrilled" to head to the game.  I figured you were at the point that many I have spoken to, just plain unattached from these losses.  I am interested to see how ticket sales for next year end up.

Will spend the OSU game in a Turkish prison, or something else fun. The schedule next year sucks, the PSLs suck, and I have no doubt that if we want to hit a game or two, good seats will be readily available.

With a 3 hour drive and everything factored in, football Saturdays are a $500 investment that really doesnt make sense anymore.

I'm going to the game Saturday. I have been to all of the B10 stadiums except for NW, Neb., Maryland and Rutgers. So I'm marking one more off the list Saturday.

Also SLAYER is playing in Chicago Friday night. That helps.

I spend $125 on PSL's - Sec 19. I'm in row 71 and I like the seats but I'd like to move down another 20 rows or so, maybe over a little bit and this might be the year to try and better my seats.

Not thrilled about the program nor the direction. I'm never too thrilled about the coaching. I thought Carr was average at the very best, was thrilled with the RR hire but knew it wasn't right in Year 2, Hoke seems like an extention of Carr without the luxury of QB and years of recruiting road graders for OL.

I do have faith in the players who come here to play.

Couches burn when people still care.  The fan base has really moved into the apathy stage.  Does anyone expect to win and if we do win does anyone expect a physical hard fough statement to be made?  Nah it would be a fluky type of win where 2 bad teams slug it out.  Couches are safe... when you expect to be beat down there is no surprise anymore, and hence emotion slowly seeps away.

We don't get the Big 10 network at our house.  Gone to the local bar to watch the other UM games that have been on B10 network this year.  I'm not going to waste my time or money going to the bar this weekend.  Might try to watch Iowa and leaning towards not watching the OSU game - not interested in the watching that absolute beat down.

are praising Brady Hoke. They say he is a class act and a great guy. They want him to coach Michigan forever.

I wonder why?

Damn, take that action while it's still available.  That line should be UM +7 by Wednesday.  NW is only 0-5 in the B1G, it's not like they're, you know, 0-6 or something bad.  Taking NW and giving 3 points is stealing.

If this line were an NFL team, it would be the Stealers.

If this line were a male model look, it would be Blue Steal.

If this line were a superhero, it would be The Man of Steal.

I could go on.  I'm depressed.

U know I can't wait for WTKA tomorrow morning. I love Sam but he's always been blinded by defending the coaches no matter what. All I heard was that urban Meyer and other coaches had 8-9 win seasons in their third year. Whats the excuse now?

Sam needs to suck up to the coaches to have access to the players. Don't think for one moment there is objectivity on WTKA. That said, the show at times is entertaining though it seems like the same callers are heard.

I am sure if I spent 5 minutes I could find a few coaches who won a NC in their 3rd year as well.  And UM is supposed to ,on paper, be superior to MSU via resources, money spent, recruiting ability, etc.  Dantonio had to pick up a big pile of crap left by John L and Bobby Williams.  At least Hoke had a bowl team, albeit a flawed one to work with.  Stop comparing the 2 as equals.  Any coach at UM has a 10 yard lead in a 40 yard dash on a team from East Lansing.   Now if you want to compare UM vs OSU or Alabama or USC or the tire fire down at Tennessee I am buying.   There are about 15 schools UM should be compared to and the only one as mediocre over the past 20 years has been ND.  Even Tenn grades out better amazingly if you look at top end seasons of 2 or less losses.

Dantonio has built a program - an identity, and shows the ability to turn 2 stars into top end NCAA players.  An ability to identify talent like 2 star/3 star Cousins and Bell.  Their players get better - no matter the age.  Hoke has shown nothing of the sort.

This is all speculative based on who NU (NOT NW, can we just start getting it right already?) has on the injury report come Saturday. Kain Colter plays? I'm comfortable saying this could be a two score game in their direction. He doesn't? It's close.

Incorrect. Northwestern University is NU. The preferred acronym is NU. And they do not use nwu.edu, either.

Also see: http://www.NUSports.com/

Nebraska is UNL. University of Nebraska-Lincoln. They're not Nebraska University. And if you want to use website URLs to prove a point, theirs is unl.edu.

Hmm - I knew someone who went there and I'm pretty sure his email address ended in nwu.edu.

Regardless, I don't see why we should care that much about what they prefer when we discuss the school amongst ourselves.  NW is not an insult, it's just shorthand to avoid confusion.  If they want to refer to us as "MI" instead of UM, I don't care.

It sort of means the game is a pick-em in a way, I would think. Using predictive numbers like Sagarin, for example, we find that Michigan's rating is 72.65 and Northwestern's is 72.01. Subract them for 0.64 then a further subtraction of 3.91 for HFA indicates Northwestern would be a 3.27 point favorite at home. If it were flipped and the game was in Ann Arbor, the prediction would be Michigan by 4.55. Either way, it would predict a close one.

Start at 3, go up to 5-6 by Friday. Same thing happened at MSU with spread. Bad omens galore here. My wife DVR'ed the game yesterday, told her to nuke it when I got home. Seeing it live was bad enough. Any half-way decent coach knows how to stop this offense. It didn't really take Narduzzi to do it. I can only hope Brady has a friendly coach out there who will tell him how we're tipping off plays before we play Ohio.

All NW will have to do is score 14 points and they'll win. So not surprised by the line.

For the first time in a long time, I am simply not hopeful that this squad will win any more games.

Even during RR's tenure, I was always hoping they'd win somehow.  But with a team that can't score... you ain't gonna win.  You can have a bad offense if you have a dominant defense, but you can't have a completely inept offense.  You gotta score a few points somehow.

We've certainly been punched in the gut the last two weeks, but what NW has gone through probably goes beyond that.  In the last five games, they have:

-Lost to OSU in a heartbreaker that featured some iffy officiating

-Gotten totally destroyed by Wisconsin

-Lost a close one at home to Minnesota

-Lost in overtime to Iowa

-Seemingly stopped the bleeding in Lincoln, only to lose on a Hail Mary.

How either of these two teams will respond, I have no idea.

Northwestern will bring the house on D every single time.

And Borges will do nothing about it except having Fitz run into a stacked box and have play action passes that take way too long to develop, thereby resulting in Gardner getting sacked at least 3-4 times.

Fitzpatrick will be sending the house nearly every down. Hell, the why not? Michigan apparently has no audible or ability to compensate for a loaded box right in your face. It's amazing the EPIC failure in just the basics of the game. This is Michigan football. What?
