Saturday College Hockey
Let's talk about some not-football everyone.
#1 Minnesota topped #4 Notre Dame tonight 5-4 (of note were a few really dirty plays by the Gophers including a 5 min major for an intentional knee-to-knee hit)
#3 St Cloud beat #7 Miami 2-1
Since that means both of those series split, we'll probably see a bit of a shake-up in the rankings Monday. I'll bet we see #1 Minnesota, #2 Notre Dame, and #3 Michigan with Michigan getting a small amount of first place votes (maybe)
Also of note, things that are good for our RPI at this point:
State was swept by Tech
OSU swept Niagara
UNH got a sweep of UMass
and RIT managed a split
Hockey. Yes. Not football

MSU getting swept is not good for our RPI, because we are guaranteed to play MSU more than we play Tech.
That doesn't mean that revelling in their misfortune isn't enjoyable, just that it's not a notable plus for us. Not a huge minus either, of course.
It's really too early to look at rankings, there just haven't been enough games yet. Once we hit the conference season, the numbers will gel and we'll get a good outlook on tournament prospects and where the strength of the conference really lies.

Yeah I guess I wasn't sure if it would ultimately help or hurt. We obviously play MSU 4-5 more times but have the two wins over Tech

Could end up playing tech a third time in gli.

They're gonna be a tomato can as long as Anastos is running their program.
That hire still boggles my mind.

It was not a marquee job. Coaches knew it was a bad situation and were not willing to take it on.
Rick Comley destroyed that program, he gave up and they're still dealing with talent and depth issues because of his recruiting after 2007.

Weren't they gunning for Danton Cole?
November 10th, 2013 at 1:46 AM ^
There was a rumor out of East Lansing that Danton Cole accepted the job, but that wasn't true. They offered, but he didn't want it.
If he was the slightest bit interested, or if any coach was interested they would not have hired the guy who hadn't been on a coaching staff since 1992.

I can't believe there was another 5 min kneeing at Minn. I was at Colgate-RPI last night and saw a 5 for boarding (no game dq) a 5 for elbowing (game mc) AND a 5 for kneeing (game misc) all on RPI They have 40 pen mins last night.
