Well, between the game and patrolling the boards, I am mixing Palmolive and Hooegarden with the fly swatter and then freebasing the results. Other than this, I am quite well, thanks.

Board gonna be dead tonight. Just watch... Bama loses and Ohio moves to 2 and a slot in the title game. They play three bad teams to finish the regular season and will smoke MSU in the conference title game then lose to FSU in the natty.

I am working this evening through Sunday. Today's game was my respite even though I knew better. Already I dread next weekend insofar as I am scheduled to sit at the N'western, a school also attended, game with vocal Wildcat alums. Kill me, please.

Got a 625ml bottle of Lion Stout that I'm working on. Not the biggest fan, I generally like more coffee flavor and this has a bit of a metallic/alcohol tinge at the end that I'm not loving. Definitely falls short of the Right Brain CEO Stout that I really enjoyed last night.

I'll probably follow it up with my last Guinness can that I have in the fridge. Love those things for what they are. Watching the pour is half the fun.

Can't go too hard at it, gotta be on form tomorrow morning for the Cyclocross race at Veterans Park where I'll be enjoying a few Labby Blue Lights after/maybe during the race if the crowd is giving beer handups.

I'm furious....

We have the WORST home slate in Michigan history next year, and our coaching staff hasn't been able to put together any road wins worth a shit....

It's weird how much the Maize and Blue tinted glasses make this program seem headed for greatness, but damn...

I know transfer rumors were shot down, but damn. Let's be serious.

At this point I'm 45 years old and well into my "high class" drinking years. In fact, I just got back from Sydney, Australia last night so I didn't start drinking until AFTER the game and after the kids were asleep:

Both wines direct from the winery and held in my cellar:

2011 Robert Biale Zinfandel, Napa Valley, Black Chicken ($42)

Nose of berries, oak and some waxy notes. Rustic raspberry, earth, and a load of pepper and oak on the palate.  Oak layers flow into complex melange of tannins and a raspberry tang. 91 points now but this will improve when the oak calms down a bit in a couple years.

2010 Robert Biale Zinfandel, Napa Valley, Aldo's Vineyard ($75)

Light red fruit and balsa nose. Black cherry and pomegranate fruit with a lot of complex brush, earth , and rustic flavors The tannins here are gentle and caressing layers. Elongated and vaguely more Bordeaux like on the finish. Not a normal full throttle Biale but I stilll like it. 90 points.

Both wines were excellent but they don't assuage the pain that whatever I watched today reminded me of Michigan Football about the same as most of the football I've since 2008. We've traded in terrible defense for terrible offeense.  I love the platitudes of Brady Hoke but this season seems to show the results leave something to be desired.

Michigan fans may have impossible standards but we do know something about footballl and today's coaching performance indicates some serious problems.
