I'm thinking, maybe Baylor's offense is kinda good after all, and their defense maybe suprisingly so.

Mariota not being completely healthy is hurting this Oregon O....ability of QB to take off is huge in this offense.

They held this offense to 14 pts in their own building last year. This is no fluke.

Everyone needs to remember that Oregon plays a speed based defense. When they face a physical team, they tend to struggle.
L to Stanford last year 17-14
L to LSU 40-27 in 2011
L to Auburn 22-19 in 2010
But they excel against teams similar to them, ie Oklahoma State and Kansas State and USC

True, but against Auburn they had folks wide open all night at the QB couldn't hit them...amd not to due pressure. That loss didn't seem to have much to do with facing a physical team.

Yes Auburn was a spread, but they were a run first spread. Teams that excel at running the ball seem to have success against the smaller Oregon D. And that enables them to control the clock and keep that Oregon O off the field.

I look at Stanford and Oregon and Baylor and I want to be mostly like Stanford with a substantial desire and abilty for trickeration.
On defense, I want to attack and light people up, this is what I want.

Stanford is basically in year 7 of their rebuild. After bottoming out at 1-11 in 2006, Harbaugh went 4-8, 5-7, 8-5 and then 12-1 and fully manballed them up. David Shaw just continued the trend going 11-2, 12-2 and now 7-1.
We're only in year 3 of our rebuild. That's why we can't be Stanford right now. Building a manballrisifc O-line takes time unfortunately

Stanford didn't become this good over night. It took years for them to reach this level of dominace. Michigan can still be this team. They just need time and experience.(assuming that the coaching is good enough to reach this level.)

Stanford seems like a really well-coached team in general. Hogan is making all the right decisions. No one ever seems to miss an assignment on either side. It's cool to watch.
