Nebraska Tailgate Options

Submitted by goblue2008 on

We are 4 days removed from the Satuday Massacre and its time to move forward to Nebraska. Let's put our emotions from saturday behind us (I finally did yesterday) and realize there is still football to play. I think we come out Saturday and we make a statement.

Lucky for me, I'll be visiting Ann Arbor saturday to witness the game with some friends who have never visited Ann Arbor so I'm looking to show them good time along with the W. I wanted to see if any kind mgobloggers would be open to us crashing their tailgate and talking football (Borges/Funk should be banned topic though). Of course we would chip in $$$ for booze and food :).

"I think we come out saturday and we make a statement"

Care to elaborate? what kind of statement? A statement that our O-Line is as Shitty as every one thinks it is?

Or that Last week was just a fluke?

Believe me. I think there is a lot of evaluation that needs to be doen at the end of the year as far as the O-line coaching goes - Funk's seat is as hot as the core of the earth. That said, I think Nebraska is beatable especially at home. They're a middle of the pack team this year like us and being at home gives us the edge.

The statement is that we aren't playing another Defense like MSU's all year..  Nebraska is just as bad as minnesota, and without Taylor Martinez.  They will basically run the ball the majority of the game.  I think our D should feast on that.

New name long time no post. Just looking for some advice on selling tickets. I can't make it to the game Saturday anymore. I bought my tix for $119 a couple months ago and am hoping to recoup as much of that as possible. Noticed a ton of cheap tix on stubhub yet. Will those sell by Saturday or is there going to be a bunch of unsold tickets and I will be left with mine which I can't sell without basically giving them away.

It's hard to MAKE A STATEMENT against a fellow shitty team.

We are like 50-50 at it this year.

Anyway... we'll be in the blue lot.  You are welcome to join us.  Look for four drunk guys in their early thirties.  Actually, try to fall down and not hit four drunk guys in their early thrities.

My wife and I are going to be in AA for the game and we were hoping to find a place to tailgate VIA MGoBlog. Not sure if that is an open invite or not GoBlueMAGNUS. Sorry for jumping on your bandwagon goblue2008.

We were debating maybe just parking in the lot on Scio Church Rd and tailgating there. We did that last year and it was actually fun. Since we're in the same boat looking for tailgating options, we could just do a joint tailgate there. I'm not 100% sure if we're doing this but if you want to PM me your contact info, I can let you know. We'll see if there anyone else on mgoblog that's in teh same predicament and try to get a bigger group.

It is absolutely an open invite for anyone to come on over. We're a rowdy bunch that got started getting together this same way. We have grills, tents, beer pong tables and all the essentials Like I said look for the jäger flag at the UofM golf course off state street. email me if you want any further info: [email protected] hope to see you saturday

After Akron: "Let's put our emotions from saturday behind us (I finally did yesterday) and realize there is still football to play. I think we come out Saturday and we make a statement."

After U Conn: "Let's put our emotions from saturday behind us (I finally did yesterday) and realize there is still football to play. I think we come out Saturday and we make a statement."

After PSU: "Let's put our emotions from saturday behind us (I finally did yesterday) and realize there is still football to play. I think we come out Saturday and we make a statement."

After MSU: "Let's put our emotions from saturday behind us (I finally did yesterday) and realize there is still football to play. I think we come out Saturday and we make a statement."

Man, you were one of the more optimistic ones on this blog. Don't rain on my parade, I just watched a pre-season hype video and I'm ready for saturday :).

Honestly, this was the toughest loss for me personally in the Hoke era but I think we're 1 to 2 year away from knowing if Hoke is the right guy. He's shaken my confidence but more than anything, I feel bad for the players. They came to Michigan expecting good coaching and I feel like the coaches have done a disservice to them in this respect. I believe Hoke when he says these players practice hard and they give effort. I think there are some quesiton marks on coaching that goes beyond O-line. We'll know within the next 2 years if Hoke is the right guy. I support Michigan football independent of who the coaches are. It's always about the team.

Don't let me bring you down.  If you think they're going to win then by all means preach it to the masses!  I'll be there Saturday cheering and hoping they win too.  And candidly I think they prolly will.

It's what I fear will happen in the three games AFTER this Saturday that has me out of the optomistic camp these days.......Hope I'm wrong.

but that was going to be my alternative if we end up driving to the game and parking in the lot on Scio Church Rd. Make it BYOB and just throw around a football, have beers, talk about the rest of the season, etc. If I see enough interest in this, I'd be down to do something liek this. We won't have a tent and all but we'll have the trunk in our rental to keep our beers :)

Were flying in from California and meeting the rest of our family there.  We're also looking for a tailgate (3 are Nebraska fans).  Would love to maybe organize a joint tailgate of some sort as well.

We'll make a statement, but it'll probably be the same statement we've made all year -- something along the line of disappointingly mediocre mixed with sprinkles of false-hope.

Honestly, a making "statement" this weekend is just another indictment of this team's leadership (or lackthereof). It's a symptom of its systemmically bipolar nature that its leaders have failed to moderate. Its a sign of caoches who cannot prepare a team for a road game. Its a sign of a team that can play, but only in certain contexts. A defense that plays well, but only at the beginning of the season. An offense that plays well, but only at home. Its a sign of playing merely in terms of emotions - fear or elation.

I would rather see continual struggle in expected areas, with gradual signs of improvement, than some back and forth, up and down, bipolarity that is a sign of poor leadership and preparation.

Give me a football game in which the team shows modest progress in all aspects rather than a "statement" win. Such a win at this piont does not mean what you think it means.
