The Rise of Henne
With the news Pennington is out for the year, is this the moment Henne has needed to establish himself as an NFL QB? In his fill-in role this past weekend, his numbers weren't anything to write home about, going 11-19, 92 yards and a pick. Now stepping into the main role, I expect him to begin to excel now that he should get the first team reps. What should the expectations be for Henne and the Dolphins now?

Much like Brady did when Bledsoe went down, Henne will take advantage of Pennington's injury and won't look back.

that Tacopants has not moved on to follow his friends Chad and Jake, Henne should be just fine. I'd expect a solid but not spectacular season.

I think Tacopants has followed Avant to the Eagles, but can't get a roster spot because of Michael Vick.

No way. Tacopants plays for the Lions now. He was out with an injury last week obviously.

I thought Tacopants was now roommates with Ryan Mallett at Arkansas after serving as the best man at John Navarre's wedding and working with Navarre in Wisconsin at the Alro Steel plant in Wauwatosa, WI. Tacopants helped Navarre get used to his new gig for a few months back in 2006 before heading back to Ann Arbor and taking young Mallett under his wing after an especially rowdy night at Scorekeepers. I am still unsure of the Dolphins ability to put him in a position to succeed. I touched on this in the Pennington injury thread, that Miami's offense in its current form doesn't really suit Henne, just epinion.

Everyone hates us because we can claim Tom Brady. Wouldn't it be great if they hated us even more for Henne and Brady both.

Henne was third on the depth chart behind Ronnie Brown.

He was third on the depth chart after Pat White, but that was more a function of Pat White seeing regular playing time for wildcat purposes. Henne will be the starter, while White will probably stay in the second slot.

Wow, I'm not quite ready to anoint him the next Tom Brady yet. I'll settle for a decent season that leaves Miami happy with what they have in him.

Henne is getting put into a tough situation. With his team 0-3 and down, many people will be expecting him to win and put extra pressure on him to do so. Probably not the most ideal situation to walk into, but we'll see what Henne is made of and I pray that he is successful. He has all the tools to do so.

Agreed. I'm hoping they put him in a Kyle Orton-type situation from a couple of years ago (some would argue still) - do enough to "manage the game" and don't make any crippling mistakes while he gets his feet wet in the NFL.

I hope they give him a little more rope than Kyle Orton got. I think Chad has a much higher ceiling and is pro-ready. I am actually hoping for more of a Joe Flacco-type year last year. Manages well, and surprises you with some moxie here and there and doesn't make dumb plays.

Remember his first game for us? He's fearless and he's got "it." It may take a few games for him to establish himself, but, as other posters have predicted, he won't look back after that.

So Michigan will now join USC as the schools with two NFL starting QBs. It's too bad it will probably be a long time before there is another.
Question is, is he worth picking up for my fantasy team?

Only if your current starter is Michael Vick, Derek Andersen or John Navarre. I want him to blow up as much as anyone but he won't be putting up numbers worthy of a roster spot. Then again, I hope I'm wrong and he puts up good numbers. Just don't see it happening

Matt Ryan is my starter for now. Pennington was the backup. I'll replace him with Henne and reap the M benefits in 2 or 3 weeks.
