Iowa St. F Melvin Ejim out 4-6 weeks

Submitted by Leaders And Best on

Iowa State forward Melvin Ejim is out 4-6 weeks with a knee injury and will most likely miss the Michigan game next month. He was their best returning player and expected to be a preseason All Big 12 candidate. Should make the Iowa State road trip a little more manageable.

Bummer.

In all honesty though the NCAA Tourney committee may not be taking this into effect come March when looking at OOC records.  This really shouldn't be an issue with US this season but nonetheless, beating a wounded* Iowa St. who will probably turn out to be a good team isn't the worst thing.  Playing them at full strength to me would be better but, oh well.

*Yes, they still have to go win, this is no foregone conclusion whatsoever.

I wouldn't worry about our SOS this year, we already have OOC vs. (currently) #4 Duke and #6 Arizona, not to mention wherever MSU, OSU, Wisconsin, and maybe one or two other B1G schools will be by then (Iowa? Indiana?). Oh and the Puerto Rico tourney too.

Bummer. Hope he's back on the court sooner than expected. Should make the game a little more manageable, but I don't think we've got to worry too much about how this'll affect our SOS. We have to go play at Duke, play Arizona at home, VCU, and then of course the gauntlet that is the Big Ten.

We'll be just fine, especially after McGary gets back to 100%.
