Just read it on Chantel's twitter feed.

Wonder what's going on over there.

Because of the way Williams has played, people will claim this doesn't hurt. Here's where it does hurt: you are now forcing either Funchess to move by the H-back and put Butt at Y-TE, or you're putting Paskorz at Y-TE, which isn't his strength either.

Yes, it probably means a bit fewer 2-TE sets, which I think you were going to see to an extent anyway, but the moving of parts around Williams could put Michigan in some situations they don't prefer to be in.

Funchess stays at WR...Paskorz and Butt are our TEs.

When you need a 3rd TE you bring in Kalis and move Lewan to TE.

When you need a pass catcher you go with Gallon-Funchess-Dileo and Butt as your TE.

Outside of depth, I don't see how this affects us. Butt has been solid at blocking and he's been in with Williams OR Paskorz. Now you just eliminated the OR and it'll be Paskorz as the 2nd TE behind Butt.

Borges has never shown any indication of reducing his 2-TE sets in response to personnel, which has been a weakness since Koger left.

Paskorz is going to see significant snaps, and he's not as good as Williams.

I would say our best hope is more use of 6 OL with Kalis taking Williams' role in the tackle over stuff.

But it was going to be less against MSU because of the how Borges wants to attack MSU. Underneath, the #2 receiver is the most effective way of attacking MSU, lining up 2-tight like Borges likes to do isn't as effective. They would still run it some because it's part of their system, but it probably wasn't and isn't going to be as often as they have in the past.

I'd rather see a tackle or guard play the TE position on obvious blocking downs if Butt is not playing and save Funchess for outside role.  With Dileo questionable and even if healthy not an outside threat we have nothing outside opposite Gallon other than seniors who do not do much except against MAC level competition and special teams demon Chesson.  Need Funchess outside period.

Hoke's quote on this, pieced together from two tweets from Kyle Bogenschutz:

"It's certainly disappointing when one of your kids makes a very poor decision. AJ realizes he has let a lot of people down, including himself. As families do, we will help AJ as he learns a valuable lesson from this."

Remember when CL Rucker was issued a DUI and Dantonio lifted his suspension right before the week of the Michigan game? What a drastic difference in disciplinary approaches.

I get it. U-M football fans are feeling inferior and are lashing out at something. It makes it easier to paint MSU as a thug, out-of-control program. Funny, though, the Wall Street Journal ranked MSU as one of the best teams on and off the field.
