Stouts over everything, especially now that its getting cold out there. I like other styles too; dunkelweizens, saisons, dubbels, and an occasional IPA are high on my list,  but nothing beats a good stout.

That being said, I am also a huge fan of $3 pitchers of Killians at Charley's.

It's been a couple years, but I discovered both in spring 2009 (or right before graduation... dammit)

BD's Mongolian BBQ had $1 Pints on Mondays. Found this out when eating there before heading to Trivia at Connors. Was upset that I didn't know this earlier.

Scorekeepers had $0.75 Bud Light Bottles on Friday nights. It was before or after 9pm, but it was cheaper than bud light at meijer.

Solid choices there. Founder's Oatmeal Stout, Left Hand Milk Stout, New Holland Poet, and Right Brain CEO Stout are high on my list. CEO stout is especially good if you like that coffee flavor and lots of it. When all else fails, a Guinness also does the job just fine. Love the nitro cans for drinking at home.

Personally I'm not a huge fan of the bourbon aged stouts becuase, well, I don't like bourbon at all. So despite being highly acclaimed I'm not a Dragons Milk fan and sadly I don't think I'd like Founders KBS.

This is great shit. I'm totally stealing some of these ideas.

We definitely get into some more specific beers throughout the site - but I tried to broaden this one and make it more widely accessible to non MI-indiana folks.

I mostly just wanted to shit on Zach for the Heineken comment. I don't particularly care for it, but it's polarizing. Lots of people hate it, some people like it.

Hoppy beer is also polarizing, but the Centennial IPA and HopSlam are awesome in the right context. But there are a lot of people out there who don't really like hoppy beer (I only like them once in a while). Most YFDs deal in more craft/local beer. I won't linkwhore here, but I agree with a lot of the sentiment I've seen here.

but Great Lakes Brewery Lake Erie Monster is one of my favorite beers.  IMO, the best beers do come from small scale breweries, but I feel like for every good micro brew I try, there are 5+ others out there that are crap.  I get tired of microbreweries trying to dress up average beers with fancy labels and stupid names and charge $12 for a 6 pack of uninspiring beer.
