One Frame At A Time: Indiana Comment Count

Ace

Reader and graphic designer Brian Downing shows off his skills with the above, which I wish I was aware of before attempting my own "Al Borges is trolling us all" GIF:

Brian's (NTB's) is obviously superior; both of these are exempted from voting this week since they're edited. There's still plenty to choose from after the jump, mostly featuring Indiana not playing defense and various reactions to the on-field insanity. It's a good crop, so...

[JUMP]

As always, click the links/stills to open each GIF in a lightbox, and don't forget to vote for your favorite at the end of the post.

HONORABLE MENTION

Gardner jukes a guy silly for Michigan's first score. Thomas Gordon interception the first. Jake Butt lays a huge block on this Funchess catch. Thomas Gordon interception the second. Fitz jukes a different guy silly. Fitz punches in the final touchdown. Despondent IU band member.

10. Marcus Ray-mon Taylor

GIF title stolen from BiSB, who noted the striking similarity between this hit and Marcus Ray's spectacular upending of David Boston in 1997.

9. Tre Roberson's Thumb

WARNING: Contains brief look at Tre Roberson's dislocated thumb, though by sports injury standards it's not particularly gross-looking. I had to include this for Kevin Wilson basically going "what the hell's wrong with your thu--OH GOD SOMEONE ELSE TAKE CARE OF THIS."

The reaction of the trainer—as well as the curious onlooking of the nearby Indiana player and assistant coach—is also pretty great. Not helping matters: Roberson himself, who responded to Nate Sudfeld's interception in a fashion not conducive to healing a dislocated thumb.

I guess this is a the right place to note that I didn't GIF Antonio Allen's worm-like attempt to get up on the sideline, which was requested a few times, because he tore his ACL on the play. Here's hoping for a quick and full recovery.

8. Watch The Pump Fake (Also, NEVER DO THAT AGAIN)

Devin Gardner pulls off a hilariously effective pump fake, then all hilarity is lost when he gets nailed with a late hit after crossing the goal line. Points to the ref for hitting the offending IU player directly in the leg with the flag.

7. The Yin and Yang of Norfleet

Cheating and including multiple GIFs in one spot, which will become a theme shortly. Here, the Norfleet giveth with a set of ankle-breaking jukes:

Then the Norfleet taketh away by reversing field twice and cedes about ten yards of field position in the process:

But hey, it was exciting.

6. Taylor Lewan Cares Not About His Bloody Face

Title is self-explanatory.

5. Gardner Barrel Roll

Didn't stick the landing, but style points are still rewarded for the seamless transition into celebration mode (followed quickly by "ow, I hurt" mode).

4. Flying Funchess

1. Wow
2. Keep an eye out for the cameraman in the background, who picks a most unfortunate time to switch cameras. He's thankfully a good sport about this.
3. By request, here's Fuller's awesome shot of the play with one slight alteration:

3. IU Band Guy

After Thomas Gordon's game-sealing interception, this IU piccolo player rips through the Kübler-Ross stages of grief in about two seconds and punctuates his acceptance by throwing up the 'I'. This is a man who's all too familiar with football's fickle nature.

2. JEREMY GALLON

Photoshop crashed when I attempted to string together all of Gallon's catches, so here are several highlights.

Leaping, twisting catch on third down:

TD bomb:

A second look, piecing together stills by our own Eric Upchurch:

Gallon breaks Roundtree's record, gets Roundtree'd in the process, reacts accordingly:

Indiana's defense decides not to guard the guy with 300+ yards:

I know Funchess is scary and Gallon is beating defenders over the top, but a 20-yard cushion seems a little excessive.

Also: 70-yard tunnel screen. Gallon's first touchdown.

FRAMES OF THE GAME: This Game, Basically

(via)

The girl has the perfect reaction to this game regardless of context, but especially after Gardner's fumbled snap, which is the moment the game reached peak ridiculousness. Potentially even better is the shifty-eyed look of the guy right below the scoreboard graphic. Yeah, man, we're not quite sure what's going on, either.

Houma leveled 2 guys in the Norfleet Return (the good one).  I love to see that.  He might have stared his guy down a little too long though on the first hit.

I'm the cameraman in the background of the flying Funchess leap. I'm still kicking myself over it, but it's almost poetic how the INSTANT I put down the 300 prime to get my other camera, Funchess launches himself in the air.

The consollation prize photo I got wasn't too bad at least:

My favorite was the wide camera angle of the CB who gave Gallon a 20 yard cushion and on the snap ran into the endzone without even looking at Gallon who ended up open by about 30 yards...

Love the attempted trip by No. 18 (I think) from IU in the good Norfleet video.  Dude is lucky he didn't get that stepped on or it could have literally been ankle-breaking.

So the people around me noticed that #4 (Hardin is his last name) from Indiana was the best player on the field. There is a play in the second half when he gets sealed and someone else has to make a play and Fitz walked into the endzone with little ease. A second player, ironicially enough #2 was so animated at #4 after the play. Our entire section had a good laugh. His body language was reading, "Come on man! You told me you had this!" it was funny.

Thanks for posting my gif! Nice use of the troll face on yours :p

I think for sake of ease, I'll just post my creations in a diary (like I just did) instead of clunking my way through twitter and the MGoBoard. If you want me to do it any other way, just lemme know!

I don't get it. What's with the second GIF with the troll face? Is the point that a power run up the middle was successful for a change, hence Borges trolling the complaining fans? Might be something obvious going way over my head, but I'm confused .Please to explain the significance of this clip with the troll face.

Totally can relate.  You're in the moment, pumped full of adrenaline, and don't care about injuries.  Dislocated a shoulder, trainer popped it back in, and I didn't care.  Shocked the hell out of everyone including the trainer.
