Score Prediction for MSU

Submitted by James Burrill Angell on
Usually this is reserved for Friday but I'm curious how this might change from now to Friday. What do you all think. Call your score? I say 42-28 good guys if Tate can play the whole game with full motion. 35-21 bad guys if he can't because the already thin D will likely be on the field a ton and get tired because we'll have more Three-and-outs with the less experienced QB out there.

i say tate will play, but less than usual so i'll split the difference with you. it will be 35-28 good guys. i read that tate had a similar injury in high school and was ready to throw by friday. his injury can't be hurt anymore than it already is so i bet he'll just get a local anesthetic right in the shoulder and be good to go. he won't play as much as he usually does, but i doubt he'll miss a rivalry game.

I think we will see a heavy dose of running the ball in this game. Minor has been limited playing, so hopefully is getting closer to 100%. A heavy dose of Minor/Brown/Shaw/Cox/VSmith can help keep the pressure off of Tate/DRob in their first hostile environment game. It should also help keep our defense off the field more, which could be a major factor. Of course we have had some long runs for quick scores, so maybe that theory goes right out the window. Score Early, Score Often-Go Blue!

41-21 UM, opening with a 21-0 first quarter. Freep headline the next day: 'MSU Scores Incredible Moral Victory Over Michigan, Proving Their Domination of the State'. Opening line: MSU won the final three quarters 21-20. It was incredible. Three quarters of absolute domination. The one point margin looked like 30 out there. If it wasn't for the refs missing 19 Michigan penalties in the first quarter. It would have been a full 60 minutes of domination.

No way we break this one so wide open - injuries, people playing in new positions, home game for MSU. And - regression to the mean - if MSU has been doing worse than expected, and we have been doing better, the most likely outcome for the next game is a closer score than the early games would suggest. I say we squeak this one out, 28- 27.

It's only Monday people. Let's not get too excited. I think we can all agree that this being a rivalry game will be difficult to pick (Always fun to speculate however when discussing MSUcks). If you look at the next game, IOWA, this is a must win to keep any hope of competing for a BIGTEN championship alive (Did I just say that)? I think IOWA wins at home making this game huge! Meeeechigan win again ugly. Mostly on the ground. Score. Take the over whatever it is. GO BLUE!

If we couldnt put up 40 on indiana, what makes you guys think well put up more than 30 on MSU. Our first road game with 2 freshman qbs which one of them is banged up.I just don see it, ill say 26-24 Blue another nailbiter.

We did not play as well as we are capable of playing. I think people will be a litlle bit more fired up over this game and I think the level of play will be elevated as compared to last week. I think we will run up a whole bunch of points on Sparty I just don't know if our D will keep them from scoring more on us than we do on them.

I think UM may sturggle on offense, but MSU is far worse, and won't be able to exploit any of the well-documented holes in the UM defense. So, I expect, for once, a low-scoring (by this year's standards) game. Sadly, though, this is coming from someone who predicted not only a low-scoring ND game, but PSU to make it to the NC game, so I guess its "voracity" is in question.

Whoever wins the running battle always wins this game, should be no different this weekend. If we get over 200yds on the ground and hold them around 100yds we win close. Look for shoelace to start this one even if tate can go, shoulder injurys tend to linger a while. Don't expect either team to run away with this game.

... and think this is why MINOR RAGE has been kept in reserve for this game. I also think there may be a new look (or three) with Denard. Not the whole thing, just enough to make Sparty look like "juco on steroids."

34-24 MSU if Tate doesn't play 35-34 UM if Tate can play... he gets another 4th Q win. defensively, this will be no different than what we've seen so far. MSU gets all kinds of yards passing & running, but has a few drives stall and settles for FG attempts.

34-31 UM if Forcier is close to full strength. 38-17 MSU if he isn't. MSU is a poor man's ND, with a dangerous passing attack but not much else (and a much weaker running game). The danger is that their defense finally starts playing the way it was supposed to play, but after three bad games in a row there is no reason to expect the light to turn on this week.

that each of Sparty's losses could of been wins had things worked out for them. And that's another thing, if they beat us suddenly everything is right in their world. They need this win more than we do so they are going to be pretty desperate. I'd like to think we could win by ten but I think it's going to be a close affair, good guys FTW.

I think the defense will play out of their minds for this game. Also, anyone else remember a certain #55 killing people last year? Yea, BG is going to get some sacks this time around.
