Noon games open thread

Submitted by Avant's Hands on

Some pretty decent games going on at noon finally. TCU-OSU (NTOSU) should be a good one on FOX. And TT-WV features the last undefeated team in the Big XII. South Car-Tenn and UGa-Vandy could be interesting. Florida-Mizzou is suddenly a big game that starts at 12:30. And if you really hate yourself you can watch Sparty beat up on Purdue or see NW-Minny.

TT already up on WV

Confession time.

I loaded up the car with the avatar and nine year old and headed up north from Cleveland about three hours ago.  I got as far as Sandusky and said to myself "why the Hell am I doing this?"  The tickets are a sunk cost (I dont get the money back I spent if I go or dont go) and my choices are sitting in my house (pissed off at Borges) watching the game in front of the fire with a nice Bells Two Hearted or sit in the rain for 3.5 hours (pissed at Borges) freezing my ass off.

I chose home.  Section 3, Row 27 will have three empty seats today.  Sorry.

I know MSU has been playing better offensively in recent weeks, but this is a rockfight if I've ever seen one in EL.  Just horrendous offenses going at it.

I might be the only one watching this game but I like what I'm seeng out of Purdue.

Edit: Apparently not.  I don't mind what he was doing there at the end.  Yeah, obviously it seems he should have ran a play and saved the timeout but I think he was playing a bit conservative and scared to give the damn ball to Sparty.

NW and Purdue both miss field goals to end the half. MSU defense up 7 on both offenses and Minny-NW tied in a game that will eliminate one team completely from division relevance.

Few top 25 updates.

Mizzou up 13-3 on Florida. Considering they are playing without their senior QB that's impressive.

Georgia getting into a possible shootout with Vandy. Dawgs just scored to go up 17-14.

Tennessee up 17-7 on USC. South Carolina always seems to pull these out of their ass, though.

TT only up 13-10 on WV now and it's Mountaineer ball.

Pokes up 17-0 on TCU. I'm surprised at how poorly TCU has been this year.

How "over" last week are you guys?

I don't know if it was the 4 OTs or the 3 legit chances to win and go home...but I'm still sick like the PSU game happened an hour ago.

The more I think about it, the more it still burns. Knowing that game is going to be replayed a MILLION times before I die sickens me.

I seriously haven't let a loss hang with me this long since Kordell Stewart.

There is only ONE way I think I'll recover...3 things have to happen. None of them are likely.

  1. We have to Beat Ohio
  2. We have to go to the Rose Bowl
  3. At least 3 of (Alabama, Oregon, FSU/Clemson, Baylor) have to win out so I can honestly believe that even if we were undefeated...we weren't going to a National Championship game.

What pisses me off the most about this team right now is that we've waited MONTHS to watch this team. All most of us want is to see them play to the best of their potential. That's what I enjoyed about watching basketball last year (minus a few games late in the year)...for the most part, win or lose, those guys maxed out. This football team has already SHOWN they're better than they're playing now. I hate wasted potential.

Obviously we would have to wait until the season played out, but if we went 13-0 with the squeakers we had against UConn, Akron, and PSU...I find it hard to believe we'd have a shot at the NC game.

A few years ago I thought a team like Michigan would never get left out in the cold with an undefeated season but with how bad the B1G is now, it's a definite possibility if you don't have the hype machine OSU has. And even they might go 13-0 and head to Pasadena.

I'm not close to over it.  Hell, one of the big reasons I'm sitting at home right now and not in my seats at the stadium is crappy feeling I've had all week about the game, specially our OC.  No way to know for sure but I'll bet you if we had won then I'd be there now and not here in front of my TV enjoying my second Bell's Two Hearted.

They always give runners an extra shove once they're a few yards out of bounds. Not usually enough to cause a late hit, but certainly a douchey play and they do it all the time. Anyone else ever noticed that?

I don't know....Florida's 53 yards of offense thus far in the first half might not look quite so bad if Mizzou didn't happen to be outgaining them by almost a 4-to-1 margin.

Having said that, INT and Florida gets a shot at bringing this to within an FG before halftime. Indeed, in two passes Tyler Murphy increased his passing yards by about 35%.

Having said THAT, sack and a TFL, then a pass that results in the 3rd and 11. If the next play doesn't work, well, nice try, Gators.

I am absolutely not surprised Cook is struggling at QB.  Even when he does put up good numbers, it always seems the result of razor's edge throws like the one he just completed.
