BBrown: Quick Update With Hjalte Froholdt
Another quick chat with a big time 2015 prospect tonight as I caught up with Denmark native Hjalte Froholdt. Froholdt is currently in America for 10 days taking a bit of a recruiting tour that included a game at Arkansas last week, a stop by Alabama yesterday, another at Florida State today, with his country-wide travels culminating in Ann Arbor Saturday for the game against Indiana.
Froholdt will release a version of his top list after his visit to Ann Arbor Saturday, but he already told me that Michigan will probably be toward the top of his list.
Michigan was in on Froholdt early when they offered him at the beginning of May and at that time he listed Michigan as his definite leader. He spoke very highly of the Wolverines and Coach Mattison back then, but over the summer his recruitment really blew up and he's now being recruited by some of the best programs in the country.
I think Froholdt is the top priority for the Michigan coaches on the interior of the defensive line in 2015, evidenced by only two other DL's having offers at this time and prospects like Tim Setlle and Elijah Taylor not having one.
I think Michigan will stay at or near the top of his list even as his offer list grows and his unorthodox recruitment unwinds.

What are the chances of him coming back to the US to play his senior year?

His plan right now is to come back to the states for his senior season, he just doesn't know where yet.

So much so that they haven't offered Settle.
Here's to hoping they are correct and he ends up Blue....

Thanks, Mr. Brown! I could only find videos of him at camps. Any highlight reels on this gentleman?

I didn't see much on YouTube, although I may have overlooked something there, but here is the Hudl page for Froholdt (HERE), which has game-to-game highlight from last season as well as a compilation of sophomore highlights.

I read he is looking to make a decision within a few months, is that still the case? If so you have to like Michigan's chances.

Does FSU's history with Bjoern Werner give them any advantage in Froholdt's recruitment?

One is Danish, the other is German. I don't get how that would help any more than Michigan's history with Olivier Saint-John or Renaldo Sagesse.

Was more referencing the similar paths the two have taken. Werner came to the US for his Senior High School season, much like the expected path of Froholdt. Also, Sagesse is a Canadian kid, much different than European recruit.

Just saying.

Not to reveal too much personally but US/Canadian citizen and well aware of Quebec's secession talks. I still don't think you can compare Quebec to Germany or Denmark.

I've been living in Europe for 4 months and haven't gotten any "Go Blue"s despite wearing my Michigan gear regularly.
Either way, I'm going to Denmark next month so I'll take it up a notch by painting my naked body maize and blue and ringing his doorbell at 4am. That should lock him up for us.
You guys are welcome in advance.

If that's in London you should know that's because we would never say anything to strangers in public other than 'excuse me' 'sorry' or 'thanks', we still all like Michigan (wildly extrapolated from sample size of one)
