BBrown: Quick Update On Minkah Fitzpatrick

Submitted by Brandon Brown on

I spoke briefly with 2015 CB Minkah Fitzpatrick tonight on the heels of a conversation he had with Coach Roy Manning.

Fitzpatrick said the chat went very well and that he and Coach Manning talked about him making a trip to Ann Arbor. Fitzpatrick is planning to check out Ohio State and Notre Dame (both have offered) and would like to stop by Ann Arbor during one of those trips.

I asked him if he thought an offer was coming based on what he and Coach Manning had discussed and he sounded legitimately unsure at this point.

Good question. I know they came a lot to my school for me in the off-season and we kept missing each other. Now lately they have been sending me a lot of mail and reaching out. I hope it would be soon because after my season I am narrowing down my schools.

Fitzpatrick then told me that if Michigan offered they would definitely make that narrowed list.

I asked him about his unofficial top list right now and he has some powerhouses in there with the Wolverines.

I don't have a leader yet but I have schools that I've either established a relationship with or I really like the mixture of academics and football. That's what I like about Michigan. Right now those other schools are Ohio State, South Carolina, Penn State, Miami, more recently LSU and Florida State. I just received the Notre Dame offer so we'll see.

Fitzpatrick will be able to go wherever he wants as a top-flight athlete and accomplished student so it's no surprise that Michigan is attractive to him. The above mentioned teams though, are as desirable as any in the country, but if Michigan offers I fully expect them to be in the mix until the end of  his recruitment.

I really hope they get Minkah, it would be awesome for a kid I know to go there.

Edit: What are the chances he gets an offer? I know it's a small class, but he's one of the best in the country.

1) Tiny 2015 class works against UM here. I'd bet he'd have his offer if not for that.

2) You mean after Penn State that top kids are still attracted to Michigan's program? After skimming a lot of these threads, you'd think that the program is in complete, utter, inescapable meltdown. But Minkah seems to think it's still a good option...
