Needs to ask Hoke when will the OLine coach be canned
October 12th, 2013 at 9:55 PM ^
...and then ask when Borges will be fired.
October 12th, 2013 at 9:32 PM ^
I might have to take up a weed or alchol addiction to forget this dumpster fire of a game.
October 12th, 2013 at 9:39 PM ^
Hoke on road = turnovers, no communication, terrible game management, and extreme predictability. Great job.
October 12th, 2013 at 10:55 PM ^
oy vey, you can't even spell alcohol much less drink it!
Leave drinking to the professionals, stick with kvetching. Or hey, maybe look into some medicinal...?
October 12th, 2013 at 9:34 PM ^
time to take this coaching staff off the Jesus pedestal. Those last few plays in regulation for us cement that.
October 12th, 2013 at 9:34 PM ^
There is no possible way Borges could have actually expected to win calling such predictable running plays!
October 12th, 2013 at 9:34 PM ^
about sums it up.
October 12th, 2013 at 9:34 PM ^
It was two Down syndrome monkeys trying to throw shit at each other, hitting nothing, until the zoo keeper took them both back to the cages.
October 12th, 2013 at 9:34 PM ^
What playbook? Our strategy of take a knee, take a knee, take a knee, miss a field goal would fit on a 3x5 card.
October 12th, 2013 at 9:41 PM ^
Ur forgetting spotting the other team 14.
October 12th, 2013 at 9:35 PM ^
Why was Stribling covering Allen Robinson with the game on the line?
October 12th, 2013 at 9:35 PM ^
on in the 1st quarter that my view of Brady has shifted to "not sure". After tonight, my view has completely changed to "not the guy". That was a pathetic coaching job.
I don't see prominence in our future with this staff - OL is horrible, D makes catastrophic mistakes and game management is poor.
Year 3 is a yardstick with programs and we don't measure up.
October 12th, 2013 at 9:36 PM ^
If you can't run the ball at all you set yourself up for this. I'm fine with Borges. Fire Funk.
October 12th, 2013 at 10:07 PM ^
What exactly is Funk's background? Does he have an actual record of success anywhere meaningful?
I'm sorry, he's not getting it done. We act like we are the only team that has players graduate. Every team has young players they have to deal with. We are showing nothing in the way of improvement. It's not like progress is just around the corner. It ain't coming.
October 13th, 2013 at 1:09 AM ^
I sat in that shit stadium for that PATHETIC display by our coaches. The last 3 minutes of regulation and ALL of overtime was the absolute WORST play calling I have EVER seen.
27 yards on 27 carries = you can't run the football. Hey Borgess - doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result is idiocy - you MORON.
During this time span PSU played man coverage on our wideouts and gave them 10 -12 yards every fucking play. THROW THE FUCKING FOOTBALL - you MORON.
I have never been this disgusted at a Michigan game ... and i've been going for over 50 years!
October 12th, 2013 at 9:38 PM ^
You know what I saw tonight? A fucking Buffalo Wild Wings commercial where the damn hot bartender kept messing the game up. Don't blame anybody but the patrons that didn't want to go home.
October 12th, 2013 at 9:38 PM ^
So when does basketball season start?
October 12th, 2013 at 9:38 PM ^
The O-line at the end of the game was Schofield, Burzynski, Glasgow, Kalis, and Magnuson. That's two walk-ons and two RS Frosh. They played their hearts out without their Leader on the line, and had Borges not gone all Lizard Brain on us, we'd have won that game.
October 12th, 2013 at 9:45 PM ^
Penn State started a true freshman quarterback and has 60 or so scholarship players. Spare me any development arguments on the OL.
October 12th, 2013 at 10:01 PM ^
Thank you. Need we make a list of all the FBS teams that are able to perform basic football tasks with less than U-M? Many teams have fewer raw materials and perform at functional levels.
October 12th, 2013 at 10:45 PM ^
We had 149 yards rushing to Penn State's 85, so they must really suck by your logic. I get it, they didn't open up any holes for Toussaint, but who's responsible for that? Perhaps the guy who called 27 runs for Toussaint?
October 12th, 2013 at 11:06 PM ^
Penn State does suck. That's what's so frustrating. We keep making bottom-feeders look like top ten teams.
October 12th, 2013 at 11:17 PM ^
Those rushing yards came overwhelmingly on passing plays. The guy who is responsible for the OL executing is the OL coach. The guy responsible for putting the OL in positions to execute is Borges. If the OL can't execute any kind of run play there isn't much Borges can do.
October 12th, 2013 at 9:38 PM ^
Zero.
October 12th, 2013 at 9:39 PM ^
They deserved to lose to App State; they had no business losing this game. Brady Hoke Dumb Punt of the Week Award. Defensive Collapse of the Week Award for letting them go the length of the field in 23 seconds. Lloydball Conservatism of the Week with no attempt to get a first down in OT. And Choke of the Week for missing a 33 goddamn yard FG.
October 12th, 2013 at 9:39 PM ^
We lost this game as a team. Led by the coaches and some of the worst playcalling I have seen in a loooong time. Defense came up with some stops but allowed PSU to march down the field in 23 seconds to tie it up. Special teams had several different chances to win the game and failed.
F U BUTTCHIN
October 12th, 2013 at 9:39 PM ^
What a choke job by the coaches. Seemed like it was run for no gain every play of overtime. way to play not to lose; which of course leads ro a loss. Total failure by the coaches. So pissed right now.
October 12th, 2013 at 10:22 PM ^
The real issue was the last 2 minutes of the 4th quarter. We had a chance to go up 10 and finish the game. All we needed was to get 5 more yards.
So what do we do? Run it up the middle twice after having no success doing that all night, and then have a five yard delay of game penalty to end any chance of a field goal.
5 yards. The coaches really don't trust Devin Gardner. But without even a shadow of a running game, they don't have that luxury.
October 12th, 2013 at 9:39 PM ^
when your qb has turnoveritis what do you expect the coaches to do?
October 12th, 2013 at 9:57 PM ^
Gardner put the team on his back and put them up 10. So what do they do in OT? Put the game on the shoulders of the oline and Ftz.
October 12th, 2013 at 10:08 PM ^
Throwing it to the other team as often as Gardener does is what prevents us from letting him sling it around like Favre when we have a lead.
October 12th, 2013 at 10:25 PM ^
...imaginable.
EDIT: At least the BIG sucks this year...but wow...what a sorry performance.
October 12th, 2013 at 9:41 PM ^
We got at least five chances to seal the win. The probability of us did not get any of them is less than 1%. When you miss a 33 yard, game-winning FG, you just won't win the game.
October 12th, 2013 at 9:47 PM ^
Generally agree with this. Coaching wasn't perfect, but put us in multiple high probability situations to win. Sometimes it just doesn't go your way.
October 12th, 2013 at 11:08 PM ^
We had a lot of chances to win. But had we won it would not have changed anything. We would still be a bad team that managed to pull out a win against another bad team. Now we're just a bad team that could not pull out a win against another bad team.
Welcome to life as Purdue.
October 13th, 2013 at 2:09 AM ^
I lol'd. Thank you.
October 12th, 2013 at 9:42 PM ^
Michigan deserved to lose tonight. Also I am convinced that Michigan will never -- never -- be a feared, dominant team under Hoke. That call on 4th and inches in overtime told me all that I need to know about his philosophy. In fact, he oftentimes looks clueless on the sidelines and he sounded clueless during his halftime interview. And we spend way to much time wallowing "Michigan tradition" instead of making a name for ourselves in the here and now. Handing out all these honor jerseys and the like. Screw all that. Go out there and knock people on their butts. That what's matters. If I want to look at old 98, I'll grab a history book
Yeah, I'm bitter.
October 12th, 2013 at 9:59 PM ^
Have to admit that "in Hoke we trust" no longer applies. Glad we didn't schedule Arizona....that would be further insult to injury.
October 12th, 2013 at 10:00 PM ^
I meant third and inches in OT.
October 12th, 2013 at 10:03 PM ^
Agree 100%. People need to accept that Michigan will not be a dominate program anytime in the near future.
October 12th, 2013 at 9:42 PM ^
The coaches, the players, the QB, the defense, the FG kicker, the o-line, and the defensive secondary all combined to lose this one guys. A total team loss, that Gibbons should have and could have prevented and our o-line inability to block on FG attempts and on running plays continues to show. We still do not have the elite talent level we need to be a team that challenges for the B1G title each and every year. One look at the o-line and d-line should tell you that.
October 12th, 2013 at 9:43 PM ^
Showed us that we could play this poorly as we did in the last minutes of regulation and through out over time.....
October 12th, 2013 at 9:43 PM ^
Chickenshit. That is all. Bring on next weeks TWIS.
October 12th, 2013 at 9:45 PM ^
Cruel irony in the fact this is the greatest Sparty, NO!!! moment of all time
October 12th, 2013 at 9:46 PM ^
We are a seriously deficient team, in every facet. The Hoke staff honeymoon is completely over (if it wasn't already), and they are deserving of scrutiny on the level of what late-era Carr and RR received. Sugar Bowl blah blah blah. We have clearly gotten worse in each year of his tenure. Might turn out to be the right guy, but there are many many coaches who would have come in and done better to this point with the same play doh. We are embarassingly bad at some basic aspects of the game that teams like Akron, Buffalo, Towson et al. have no problems with.
October 12th, 2013 at 10:17 PM ^
While I agree Hoke and his staff deserve scrutiny, Hoke's recruits are sophomores and we are paying the price dearly for Rich Rod's horrendous OLine recruiting.
