Tigers vs Athletics Open Thread
Hopefully being at home will give the offense a spark that they definitely need. Sanchez is on the hill, Peralta in LF, Im liking our chances here.
What a ridiculous start time. Anybody know of a good stream? I already looked at first row sports and saw nothing.

The game, and the ridiculous fbombs, clear as day in front of all 3 kids. Nice, MLB network.

I thought that was awesome and quite frankly that was the best part of the game.

an ALDS swearing chart. Maybe next game.

issues with this team, Cabrera being hurt, fielder not hitting, jackson not hitting, peralta's suspension, they can still win this series but this team has struggled for 2-3 years at moving runners. we rely too much on homers and extra basehits. we strike out too much and leave too many players on base. i don't know what the answer is, this team has a lot of $ into it, offseason moves regardless...find another LF, potentially trade Jackson or move him down the order.

Left field had been a rotating circle of donkey shit. Guys heat up and then that get benched for a few games and then you wonder why they can't be consistent. Each one of those guys (Touy, Kelly, and Dirks) have had great weeks here and there but they don't see enough game time to gain any consistency. When you don't see live pitching for a few days, it messes with your timing. Pick a guy and stick with him.

And my point couldn't be made any more clear by Don Kelly sitting today after he had half of the Tiger's hits the previous game.

I think I might be the only Wolverine fan here, that's also an A's fan. One more victory for my A's and we will avenge the ousting last season at the hands of the Tigers. I know I won't be popular for coming out, but I am excited.

Tigers have not been hitting well for the past Month, I doubt if it will change. I expect the A's to wrap this up tomorrow! May be next year for the Tigers?

They've been mediocre for a month. A's have been great. Tigers are done for this year. They limped in. They'll whimper out.
But to those of you finding all sorts of structural reasons they're just not good enough or not built right way to win post-season or...really? You need to recognize & appreciate their huge playoff success last 7 years or so. Twice to World Series. Once more to ALCS, I believe. 3 straight years division champs. Made playoffs something like 5 or 6 of last 7 years. In baseball. Not other sports where top third or half the league makes playoffs. Tigers have arguably most success of any franchise in past 7. Just not the World Series yet, I get that, but they're not done for future. Whole team should be back. Plz don't touch it, in fact! (Except maybe a small tweak here or there: LF, more mid-relief/set-up.) We need to appreciate how great we've had it these last few years, IMHO
October 8th, 2013 at 10:52 AM ^
Just FYI, the Tiges have made the playoffs in 3 of the past 7 years. Not 5 or 6.
October 8th, 2013 at 3:40 PM ^
...it's last 3 in a row, plus 2006 makes 4 of 8. I must've been counting game 163 and forgetting some years.
Hope they snap out of it tonight, & then win game 5 with the aces...but, if not, I'd expect then right back in playoffs next year!

Braves Fan here.
Baseball hurts guys.

Facing Clayton Kershaw twice in a short series is just not fair. Also having to start Freddy Garcia in a must-win game is just not fair (I know he pitched pretty well, but c'mon, it's Freddy Garcia).
