With the Akron game, I'm not sure if those were Big Ten officials or not, but we did get some fortunate calls to run the clock/not run the clock at the end of that game.

Texas just got bailed out by Big12 refs in a Big12 game. No wonder Nebraska, Mizzou and A&M left - it's all about Texas in the Big12.

Nice win by Texas.  Didn't know they started incorporating black and white stripes into their road unis.

That last Texas drive was a freaking disaster by the officials.  2 Pis (one very legit), one blatant hold (ironically on the last PI, Left DE got off the OT and gets spun around right in front of McCoy), one missed fumble, and one fumble where the nose of the ball breaks the plane and then get's recovered by UT, meaning it should be a touchback...

Iowa State outgained Texas by a considerable margin, but 10 penalties for 118 total yards - 2 of them very painful PI calls - were part of the reason that this did not go the way of the Cyclones. Also, Big 12 officiating is apparently done while wearing welding goggles.

defense held in the clutch.   field goal on ISU's next-to-last drive, and then an interception to win it.

sad to see so many negative comments, so little understanding of the circumstances.   does not speak well of this board - normally a very good board at that.

isn't 'bueno'?   UCLA, NY Jets, Broncos, Chiefs, none of that is 'bueno'?  by your standard, with the exception of mattison (who is great, incidentally), our coaching staff is pathetic.

greg is an excellent coach who got put into a terrible situation with our beloved wolverines - no players (28 schollies) and no talent, with rich rod telling him to run that 3-3-5 nonsense.

i think our present staff is excellent. I was pointing out the silliness of the earlier comment about greg's resume, which is pretty outstanding when taken as a whole.   he inherited a pasqualoni mess at syracuse and an equally short bench in ann arbor.  over 35 years he's done great.

It's alway's someone else's fault, eh? By my standard, both people that took over for GERG did better than he did with the same Jimmys and Joes. Scott Shafer and Greg Mattison. But, hey lets make excuses for him and not hold him accountable for his most recent performances. Brady Hoke took over tire fires at three programs and turned them all around. Jim Harbaugh did it. Pete Caroll did it. Charlie Strong. The list goes on. Good coaches can do that. Did I mention Scott Shafer?

35 years is a long time. GERG may have been a viable coordinator once upon a time but it is no longer that time. If you want him, you can have him.

Watching UCLA - Utah on Fox 1.

I can't stand the way Fox covers College Football . . . as a way to kill time until the NFL is on.

They prop up NFL has-been announcers, they talk about CFB players predominately in terms of where they'll go in the draft, they spend the half-time break pimping non-CFB sports, they even recycle the NFL theme music.

If you are going to cover College Football, then cover College Football.  If you'd rather be doing something else, then get the hell out.

ESPN can be annoying, but I can watch a full day of College Football covereage and not once feel like it's just a warm up for the NFL.  They genuinely appreciate CFB and cover it on its own merits.  It's not just a "platform" to pimp the other stuff they really care about.

I unfortunately have to watch a lot of the Pac-12 games on Fox.  Everthing about tha network is just plain garish.  Remember, these are the people who thought it would be a good idea to broadcast hockey games with a superimposed spotlight on the puck and low-res lightning bolts appearing when shots were taken.

At least they have Gus Johnson.

Obviously Nebraska has its issues, but Utah might just be pretty damn good. UCLA has a +3 TOM...and they're winning by a FG. But, points off turnovers is 3 - 7 (I think), advantage Utah. So, UCLA's pick was devastating (obviously).

Transitive property might deceive us here. It's possible that Utah and UCLA are both legit and Nebraska is, well, not.

No apologies necessary. This was a soft play, goes with the territory. I underrated the Utes, gotta pay tuition to learn things, you know?

Of course, that whole Gardner-style pick 6 didn't help but....eh whattayagonnado?

Of course you are.

Let's recap:

  1. Roughing the Passer penalty gets Utah into FG range.
  2. Utah's subsequent Field Goal Attempt HITS THE UPRIGHT...goes through anyway.
  3. On the ensuing kickoff, my man (UCLA guy) recovers the onside attempt...and then fumbles.
  4. And Utah recovers. Utes need a TD to win, but only a FG to piss me off.
  5. False start gives Utah a free down on 4th and 12....they convert on 5th down.

Kraken sure knows how to make this isht interesting, don't he?

I better rethink this account. At this rate -- win, lose, or draw -- I will single-handedly win The Tears of Unfathomable Sadness every week. No doubt about it. I don't even love those hoes! Sho luv dat money do...

Whatever. 3 - 0. Tomorrow never dies.

Texas is going through the same thing michigan is... They feel entitled in the sense they think any coach in America will just drop any job they have to coach at Texas... Michigan learned the hard way that they couldn't just call anyone and they'd take the job...
