Wife Day 2013 Part 1 Plans

Submitted by JeepinBen on

After much ANGAR, RAGE, and internet stupidity, we have arrived at the first of two bye weeks in the Michigan football calendar. So while you'll have a chance to redeem the mistakes you make this weekend during Wife Day II - Wife Harder, your main excuse to sit on the couch and watch football this Saturday is going back to the drawing board, working on fundamentals, and getting ready for Minnesota.

So, what are you doing this Wife Day?

(Interlude on the history of the bye week being called "wife day" around these parts:

Six Zero's coining and epic preview: http://mgoblog.com/diaries/preview-wifeday-2010

And JamieMac's case against "wife day" as an entity: http://mgoblog.com/mgoboard/war-against-wife-day)

So, what's your wife day going to be? Building capital so that you can spend it in order to watch the Michigan games in future weeks? Going to a wedding from your friends who still suck because they're getting married on a fall saturday - but don't suck that much because they picked a bye week? Watching football because it's a fall saturday? Or you're not sure if you'll have enough time?

That's me. But they do "suck that much" because the wedding is in Ohio.

Sit in front of my TV and watch college football and get White Castle. Since the only females that talk to me are related to me. Forever alone.

You need to make an effort with women. They are not going to come to you. You're probably sitting there thinking it's because you aren't good looking, but I assure you, that isn't the problem.

If you're hungry, make an effort to get fed. All that "wait for the perfect girl to come along" advice never actually works.

Some people are just naturally gifted when it comes to attracting desired mates, and those people suck. Most of us have to work at it just like anything else.

And yes, the "be patient and wait for someone to come along" is a crappy platitude. No one knows what a perfect pitch looks like unless you swing at a thousand balls.

I met my wife when a woman I worked with had a roomate that was in a beach house.  I joined the beach house and met my wife when one of the beach house woman had a birhtday party and invited a friend she went to school who worked with my wife, who came along to the party   Eighty six degrees of Kevin Bacon there.

The moral to the story:  Circulation.  Get out there.  It's not that you will just walk out the door and meet Ms. Right.  The way it works is that you will meet someone who works with someone who used to go to school with someone who knows Ms. Right.

Or just join an internet dating site and pick Ms. Right off of a shopping list.

It seems my group of friends followed (1989-1990) yours @906 Greenwood (and Indywolverine followed sometime after). Which room was yours? Looking at your avatar I had the room with the window on the right. Having gone back to UM in recent years with my wife and daughters for games, they are astounded at what a dump it is...I on the other hand can't see past the awesome memories. Small world.

Celebrating out one year anniversary and then heading to Gettysburg until Friday for vacation. First vacation in a year so definitely looking forward to it.

My fiance already got terrific lady day a few weeks ago (before the start of the season). This week she gets another bonus: I'm going to Canada to bet on other football games. She doesn't have to deal with me.

I am attending something called 'The Grape Festival' near Cleveland with the wife, kids, and in-laws. The early line has my patience as a 14 pt underdog against the festival.
