Gameday / Early Games Open Thread

Submitted by gwkrlghl on

The blog returns. Gameday is in Fargo. All of the noon games are boring. Actually Minnesota takes on San Jose State which features David Fales, a QB with legit NFL prospects. Will be interesting to see Minnesota against it's first non-abysmal competition. Upset watch in Minneapolis

Well, FAMU apparently likes to play the kick coverage a little conservatively and just not touch anyone except for the personal foul there. So, Ohio State gets the ball at the 7 and scores again. 13-0 Buckeyes.

I can't believe I'm watching Minnesota and really have no options that are more exciting than this game. In better news, I checked the 7:00 slot tonight and my tv says it's the Michigan game. When I checked it on Wednesday it still said Texas. I'm in IL.

Ohio State has only had the ball for about 90 seconds in this game and already has 20 points. They haven't even hit 100 yards of offense yet either, but when you keep taking possession of the ball within earshot of the endzone, it will take a while to get there. FAMU is getting an average of 1 yard per play though, so they are kind of advancing...kind of.

I'm not sure if this is going to turn into the drinking thread, but i've been out of the states for 7 months now, and I was wondering if there are any new beers out there that would be worth my while. I see that Rolling Rock put out a red, but i've been doing some reading and from the reviews it sounds absolutely terrible. I'm living in South Carolina, so if anybody is from around there, some regional help would be greatly appreciated as well!

I'm tired of Ohio always having a backup QB who is actually an upgrade from their starter, and ends up Wally Pipping him.  This is the third time in a row it's happened (Pryor over whatshisname, Miller over Bauserman, and now Guiton over Miller).  Injuries to your QB are not supposed to actually make your team better.  They're overdue for a Sheridan or Bellomy.

I hate to give OSU fans credit for anything. Yes, they are the most classless thug fans in the nation. Yes, they cheer for cheating coaches and thug players. Yes, they would spit on you just for looking at them the wrong way. But despite a noon start against a horrible opponent, there's no empty student section.

Not to mention The weather was awful (constant drizzle) until around 11:30 here in Columbus. I felt bad dropping my father-in-law and sister-in-law off at the OSU shuttle location at 10am because I knew they'd have to be outside in this crap as soon as the bus got them to campus.

Well, to their credit, FAMU did stuff one run play for no gain. They do have that to take away from this game, if nothing else.

Statistically, the OSU rushing game has been allowed to take the game off so far. Guiton has been able to take advantage of the fact that Rattlers don't have an answer for....well, a lot.

FAMU just gave back all that momentum and promptly throws a pick that is nearly taken back for a touchdown, but no matter, as the Buckeyes simply make it 34-0 on the very next play and PAT.

Nice kick return by the Rattlers gets about halved by a foul. Ryan Shazier tackles a receiver for no gain and thus ends the first half. The Rattlers get a couple minutes to estimate the halftime score if the present rate holds.

Our DTs licking their chops for Minnesota. I think the Gophers are much better this year than in recent years but if all they are going to do is run the. We can bring our heavies out there to meet them.

UNC - Ga Tech game.  GT coach Paul Johnson has some rediculous record against teams from north carolina... like 26-1.  Also: High powered offense alert: Wake Forest 3, Army 2. Second quarter!!!
