Kentucky thing started (IMO) mainly because of Ashley Judd.  Not saying it isn't true, just saying that my roommate and I were very close to driving down to UK one day to attend a Wildcat club hockey game for a complimentary "Ashley Judd in nothing but a hockey sweater" schedule poster.

Actually, the rest of their posters are pretty good, too.

I remember that calendar hanging in the Coach and 4 and wondering why I hadn't gone to Kentucky.

But yeah, it's a school that got a lot of buzz because a pretty cute actress went there.  I mean, Lucy Liu went to UM and she's rather attractive, but because she doesn't pop up at basketball games people forget that.

So I guess we have a right to be arrogant; our grads are not only smarter and classier, but also better looking than MSU grads and OSU grads. Basically better human beings all around.

As much as I loved Michigan, I always felt the girls were too smart & classy. Michigan State girls - hot, dumb, and slutty - have always been more my speed.

Indeed, I often reminisce upon my halcyon days at the U, as I endeavored to charm the brilliant ladies of the Maize and Blue. I recall many a evening at Rick's American Cafe, whereupon I and rather homely yet enticingly witty lasses of about 20 years, would imbibe the finest cognac and entwine our minds in elaborate philosophical musings. In one instance, I proferred the ironical observation that Kant's Critique of Pure Reason, while being a robust and poignant defense of the virtues of the common man, was so overly verbose and obfuscating that no common man would ever be able to comprehend it. What a blunderous miscalculation, indeed, for such a lofty thinking man of historical import! It is to laugh! Yet my companion insisted that Kant's method was sound, as his intent were toward a mere proselytizing of his aristocratic contemporaries. Needless to say, I ne'er did call upon this lady for affectionate company in even the most dire of circumstances.

From Jezebel.com:

Two days before the 2013 Miss America pageant, Miss New York Nina Dalvuluri —the self-proclaimed Miss Diversity — was allegedly caught on tape calling outgoing Miss America Mallory Hagan "fat as fuck."* Keep it classy, ladies. Another beauty queen overheard and taped Dalvuluri's conversation in a hotel room on July 16th, during which a friend of Dalvuluri's also made racist remarks. The recording has been making the rounds on the pageant circuit and brought to the board of the Miss America pageant. Hagan's rep says there is no validity to the story whatsoever, but Dalvuluri sent her a Facebook apology:

“I want to apologize for the awful statements made by people in my room . . . There were people who claimed to be my supporters and said things I never agreed with, nor supported . . . I was never a part of the words or statements that may have been hurtful . . . I’m sorry if someone said something that was inappropriate.”

But what you say in privacy vs. what you say in public....I mean, in our living room my wife said "ohmygod she's so big" and then they showed the last year pics, and she's certainly put on a pound or twenty.  I wouldn't say "fat", but certainly not what you'd expect the reigning Miss America to look like. Hey, after you've completed your responsibilities go wild. I mean, some of them are way too skinny anyway.  That's why I like the winner (and a few others) who actually have some shape and when they turn their hips their stomach doesn't look like I should be donating money to UNICEF.

Nina is my cousin. We are so thrilled and proud of her. She went to state for a year...and transfered to Michigan!! Everyone in our family are Michigan grads! Please ignore those articles. .they are factually incorrect. The allegations against her were investigated by miss america pageant and was cleared of any wrongdoing.

Nina is a kind..smart...and beautiful girl in many ways. She worked so hard and persevered for this title. Go blue!

I think Miss USA competes in the Miss Universe pagent, primarily.  They're the Trump pagents. (Though I just found out last night there's something called Miss World too that Miss America might go on to compete in).
