M Hockey Commit Bryson Cianfrone reportedly going OHL

Per many many twitter reports, Bryson Cianfrone (2014) had his rights traded to the Mississauga Steelheads (OHL) and is expected to sign with them. When he first committed to Michigan (link) he was projected as a potential top 10 OHL pick but seemed to struggle in the USHL. He was originally a '13 commit but reclassified to '14.

Fortunately, Cianfrone was still a year out from Ann Arbor so this leaves us some time to replace him which is better than we normally get.

 

The Mississauga Steelheads have acquired Bryson Cianfrone from the North Bay Battalion. Cianfrone was a third round pick in 2011.

Michigan commit Bryson Cianfrone has signed in the OHL, which will negate his NCAA eligibility. Was slated to arrive in Ann Arbor in 2014.

No way he would have signed in North Bay (to get there you drive to the middle of nowhere and then turn right). However, Mississauga is basically Toronto, pretty good building, suburban setting and 40 minutes from his family home.

YAY OHL!  What a great day, today is turning out to be.  I just hope the Michigan commitment wasn't used to drive a draft rights trade to a team Bryson would play for.

WOTS from guys like Michiganhockey.net and the sabbaticalled @yostbuilt is that he is not performing up to expectations and that this is not a crushing blow. As the OP said, he has already been asked to wait a year. This may actually be something is a mutual parting of ways, or at least a situation where Michigan wasn't upset.
Mississauga is not known as an ethic-free power in the OHL. Their situation is actually kind of a mess. I'm guessing it was just time to take a leap.

This is a lot like  losing Daniel Milne to the OHL last year. Cianfrone's stock had dropped to the point where it shouldn't be difficult to find as good or better elsewhere.
