Evening games open thread

Mainly creating it in hopes someone can point out a game on tonight that doesn't suck.

it's early, but a really bad Purdue team is looking good against the Irish. This is the rest of their schedule:

MSU, Oklahoma, Az St, USC (pillow fight game?), @Air Force, Navy, @Pitt, BYU (just now rushed for another 30 yards against Texas), and @Stanford.

It's not hard to see 5+ losses for ND in there. That'd seem to put Kelly squarely in the hot seat.

In regards to Texas, I live in Arizona and I can't seem to find their game on the old television. Just have to wonder how that Longhorn network is working out for them.  I mean I got to watch lots of MAC teams today but no Texas game.  Yes I wanted to watch GERG and his beautiful hair.

Just tuned into Purdue-ND after a little moderating.

Why do I have the view of the camera on the satellite which is making this telecase possible on some of these plays? Did they explain something in the pre-game or is this Sweeping Epic mode for ND-Purdue?

Also, Rob Henry is 7-9 for 71 yards right now. Not a bad start for Purdue in the air.

In other news, Ole Miss has already put up over 100 yards on Texas and the 1st Quarter is not done. Things are going as you would expect them.

The TV cameras are way above the field. Purdue's stadium has the highest tv angles of any D1 stadium in the country. Except, I think, for Welsh-Ryan in Evanston. Cal used to be #1 in this weird stat, but they modified the camera layout when they renovated. Why do I know this stuff?

We laugh about this rivalry (mostly because of Purdue's struggles), but for Purdue this is a major rivalry. It's one of those little brother rivalries, with Notre Dame as the big brother. ND might usually win, but Purdue gets way, way up for this game and usually plays tough at least for a while.

When I applied to grad school at Purdue I said attending there would be a good opportunity to root against ND one extra time per year. They appreciated the comment, and I got in and did well.

I should pull for ND in this game because it would help Michigan, which is and will always be my only college football rooting interest. But I can't root against Purdue in this game, and certainly can't root for ND.

Penn State down 24-34 to UCF

Illinois down 17-31 to (19) Washington

(11) Michigan barely (barely barely) beats Akron

(23) Nebraska loses 21-41 to (16) UCLA after being up 21-3

Minnesota only beats Western Illinois 29-12

Rough day so far. The Big Ten mockings are justified at this point

complain all we want, but we only gave up 24 points for the *ENTIRE GAME*

Ohio has already given up 20 points *JUST IN THE FIRST HALF*

there.  let that soak in and feel better.
