UConn Kick-off NOT announced

Submitted by rb4kb8 on

This is absolutely ridiculous for people who are going.  Not only are we impatient...but six or five days to make plans... is NOT easy.

Apparently AAC (American Conference) wants to hold out.

ESPN says announcment next Monday:

UConn's twitter feed says annoucement Saturday night.

It appears it'll either be a Noon or 8pm kickoff with ABC/ESPN televising.

The only other game worth watching is Arkansas at Rutgers and that will likely be a 3:30 start. The other games don't stand up to a late start. I would be shocked if UM plays a night game there though.

it at least gives me the ability to not have to worry about traveling Friday... and can do it all Saturday.

A noon kickoff means having to totally figure out work stuff on Friday... and leave Friday.

This AAC conference is already a joke....

So the, uh, AAC is debating whether to showcase its team getting housed in primetime or get housed during the day when everyone else is distracted by other games?

Don't get me wrong, Rutgers will lose to Arkansas, but they have a shot. UConn got hammered by Towson and now has to go up against this Michigan offense.

I would love another night game, but I cannot see this one being an 8:00 game, though as someone mentioned, it is not out of the question considering ND is playing at Purdue at 8:00 this Saturday, which is on ABC.

Ticket prices were a lot lasta week; was hoping even more Uconn fans look to unload tickets between now and gametime.

Any recommendations as far as traffic and parking for games a Uconn? What are other people planning on doing?

I'm planniong on leaving NYC friday afternoon. Going to be staying at a friends place about 1hr away from the stadium (New London, CT area).

I have purchased tickets numerous times from StubHub for both concerts and athletic events, never had an issue.

StubHub has something called FanProtect:

We guarantee...
  • You'll get the tickets you ordered in time for the event and they'll be valid for entry
  • If any of the above does not occur, we'll locate comparable replacement tickets or send you a refund
  • We handle all customer support issues, so sellers will never contact you directly
  • You'll get a refund if your event is cancelled and not rescheduled

Bleh.  I don't want an 8PM game either.  The noon lineup on TV nowadays is such complete shit.  I'm sick of having to choose between three or four really shitty Big Ten vs MAC games every Saturday in the early afternoon.

this week against Akron. I like early or late afternoon games in the conference season and early games in the preseason. Those 8 p.m. games don't end until midnight. And so, there is no real opportunity to check out postgame commentary and discussion.

Noon makes the most sense because there really isn't another compelling matchup, but I'm a bigger fan of 8 just because it might be cool to see another night game.  Regardless, UM will destroy them either way; just depends on if the UConn's kid fans will be awake to see it.

Here's the week 4 schedule for ESPN:

http://espn.go.com/college-football/schedule/_/week/4

They haven't put times on all of the BTN games yet on their site, but the games which will be on BTN are marked. I don't know, of course, but something in me says this could be a noon game given the list of games scheduled. I could be eight hours off, of course.

The only for sure 8 PM games at this time (check the site because it may update later) are Mizzou at Indiana, which is on BTN, and UTSA at UTEP, which would probably end up on ESPN3.

this would end up being one of those games that is NOT available on a reverse mirror.  Meaning it's literally not available on TV in some parts of the country.

ABC has already chosen K-State @ Texas for 8 PM ..... ESPN has a game at 7:45 PM .... ESPN2 has games at both 7 PM and 10:15 PM.

An Ohio State @ Minnesota 8 PM ABC kickoff had this happen a few years ago.

No, it has not changed.

What is different is the rights to this game game are not owned by the Big Ten; they are owned by the AAC.  The game, if aired at 8pm, would be aired under the conditions of the AAC contract with ABC/ESPN, which does not require the "reverse-mirror."

My wife and I were planning on bringing our young-ish kids to this game.  An 8:00 start would ixnay that possibility.  If 8:00 happens, I will chalk it up to the football gods telling me that my kids' first game *must* be at Michigan Stadium.
