OT: Would Saban Take the Texas Job?

With Mack Brown likely out, I couldn't help but think about who would likely be candidates. Texas is clearly going to go after a big name coach, because that program seemingly demands it. That being a factor, the first name I came to was Nick Saban. Saban has an ego as big as Texas, and if Bama manages to threepeat this year, he may feel like he's accomplished everything he wanted to. In Texas, Saban would walk into a talent rich area, a large football budget, and another huge fan base. I honestly think Texas will come calling, and they will be bringing a large amount of money with them. Definitely something to keep an eye on, could get very interesting.

Saban isn't leaving bama. I think bill obrien gets a good look, but penn state is going to be a marque job again once the sanctions pass. I think they go after some younger head coach from a smaller program like a&m, nd, Michigan, Florida (urban), etc. These latteral moves rarely payoff in my opinion. If you can't win at Tennessee, why would you do better at USC?

Gerg will be the next Texas head coach.  He has ties to the Texas national championship team already. Texas boosters and fanbase will be enamored by the stuffed beaver. Texas allowed over 500 yards of rushing to BYU last night. Gerg would make a promise that he would turn the defense around and only allow 450 yards of rushing.

Mack can still save the season Texas wasn't gonna go undefeated plus the big-12 looks slightly weaker than last year. Tcu ksu isu wv even Oklahoma dont look that good. I hate Texas as much as anyone else but don't assume the guys out after the second game

but i predicted last year that Saban would leave Bama for Texas. He will be their number 1 pick, he will get any amount of money Bama would pay him, plus more. He would OWN the most talent rich State in college football too. I say at this point, I'd be shocked if he DIDN'T take it, it's Texas, one of the most prestigious football schools in the country.

I certainly could see Texas as being a possibility if he grows bored with Bama. He seems to be the kind of coach who likes to build something but then grows bored with sustaining sucess. He still needs 2 more NC's to tie Bear Bryant but is exceeding Bryant his goal? Or is building programs what drives him? If the latter then Texas would certainly be enticing having only 4 claimed NC's and only 1 in the past 43 years. While having a culture of excellence and love of football they really have not been overly successful in the national landscape. If Saban could take them on and turn them into NC winners he would have an opportunity to build something there on his own rather than comparing to another legend like Bryant.

USC has the same type of history as Bama. He would just be another part of a long line of legendary coaches or coaching Heisman winners, nothing really new there. I think if he does move (and I'm not sure he does unless its NFL) it's to Texas.
