Question About College Gameday

Submitted by rob6reid on

I have two quick questions about College Gameday. I'm a sophomore, and therefore was not here when College Gameday was in town for the 1st UTL game. Can anyone that went tell me how early you showed up, and how good your spot in the crowd was? Is it worth being there if you show up at, say, 8AM and you're behind a massive amount of people?

Also, would my cowbell be confiscated if I were to bring it? Anyone with past college gameday expirience is welcome to share their expiriences.

I seem to recall it not being too crowded unless you were right up close. I was still decently close and could kind of move around out there. I'd guess you'll have to be there early though to get in those first few rows

I got there at 7:30 am last time around, which was early enough to be in the middle of the main fenced in portion, or right up against the fence outside of that main area.

I remember when Gameday was appointment viewing. Of course, so was Sportscenter.

ESPN really sucks. I wish they would rehire Feldman and pair him with the Solid Verbal guys. The broadcasts would be entertaining and informative instead of inane.

Gameday seems wild on TV but the reality is no beer is allowed and people get tired of standing there all day. I'd get there at 8am, say you went, get your pics and then hit your regular tailgate plan....

Am I wrong ? That's how I remember 2011 when it was at that location....

I've been to Gameday four times (3 at OSU, 1 at Wisconsin) so I'll chirp in. I recommend going early to get all the free stuff they handout (Key Chains, Home Depot cards, Helmets, Towels, Gameday signature signs) in addition to TV time and having your own sign shown on TV. Not sure how early you need to get to the set to ensure you get a favorable position but from my experience at two different B1G schools 5:30-6:00am is good enough to get on TV. Not sure what the set up or lines will look like in Ann Arbor but I imagine they won't  be too different. Only game I went to that I didn't get on TV or receive free stuff was when we played USC 09' and it wasn't as much fun.

I recommend you get up and go early. Who knows when the next time you'll get the experience of College Gameday as a student.

Bring a sleeping back and camp right under the booth.  That will ensure you will be woken up by Samantha Ponder and the crew tomorrow morning, and then you be in the front row.
