LED bracelets...effective Notre Dame offense distraction?

Submitted by UMxWolverines on

If everyone turned them on when Notre Dame is on offense, do you think it would help any? Is this against the rules or anything?

That at the game last year, they played music up to or slightly after the snap when we had the ball but cut it off well before the snap when ND had the ball. It had a noticeable effect on our ability to communicate.

It's an amplified live drum cadence right up until the snap and I found it very annoying after a while.  They even did it when we had the ball.  I'm surprised it's allowed after a team breaks the huddle.  "Adds excitement" I guess.  If it didn't rattle CMU it sure isn't going to affect ND.

I miss the old days when the crowd noise forced Ohio to take repeated time outs!

The on-off switch on the bracelet controls the receiver, whether the LED is on is controlled by a signal sent out from a single location.  You can turn it on and off all you want, but it will only light up if it is being told to do so.

Also, most everyone has a phone with a camera on it and nobody has ever coordinated mass flash photography during a game, so I don't know why this would happen even if you could control it.

I have to admit that I was curious as to how these would work. I know that they have done similar things at concerts close to what drewz05 is describing, where people wear the bracelet and it is tied to a program to make it work with the show, but obviously I am not sure if that's how it is being handled here.

Fans cheering, making noise that way fine, shinning lights, blaring stadium music, not cool. I want to win, I don't want to cheat/bend/fudge the rules to do so.

no joke its hoke

NCAA ruled UM can't not use these during the Ohio game. they fear there will be too many stoppages in play from the Ohio players assuming the position when they see the blue flashing lights.

I upvoted this thread because I thought you were joking...

then I got to thinking:  how cool would it be if we could replace the wave with the lights of our phones?

cool eh?

when you just went to a game and cheered for your team.  When you didn't need a pom pom, When you didn't need a flashing scoreboard to tell you when to make noise.  When you could talk to the person next to you about the game during timeouts.  When you didn't need a flashing bracelet to show your allegiance.

If you can remember these things, you probably still had a good time.

Remember when they didnt have lights? Remember when there weren't digital or even electronic scoreboards? Remember when there wasn't tv? Remember when they didnt use the forward pass? Times change, get used to it. I seem to recall everyone raving about what an awesome experience UTL I was, lets wait and see how awesome this night can be before we poopoo it. Sme of you guys act like you're 80(no offense to any 80 year olds out there)
