Borges as a Tarot Card
I'm putting this as a forum topic because I don't want to bump the diaries off the front page and before I put more effort into making this a series, I want to see if there's any interest out there. I was perusing some art sites I frequent and saw some cool Tarot card designs. I thought that might be a cool idea for some art of my own, with a twist. I want to make Michigan coaches/players into Tarot cards. I know I won't be able to make them all fit, but the first one I thought of was Borges as "The Magician." Perhaps it's wishful thinking that this season will be magical, offensively.
Now, I'm not really into Tarot, so I did a little research and I think I can stretch it to work. Apparently, the Mythopoetic approach considers him as the following:
He represents the potential of a new adventure, chosen or thrust upon one.
A journey undertaken in daylight, in the Enlightenment tradition.
He brings things out of the darkness into the light.
Now, again with wishful thinking, but it kind of fits should we have a renaissance on offense. He was given the offensive players that were "thrust upon" him and made the best he could. Now we're hoping to see the new adventure that Hoke and company are bringing their players into the mix.
Anyway, I know it's a stretch, but I liked the whole idea enough to ask if others would like me to continue. I would not do a whole new diary series for them. I would just slide them into my wallpaper series whenever I finish one. Let me know if you would like to see more. Also, since I am less versed in this stuff, if anyone has good fits for future cards, I would welcome them. Saturday can't get here soon enough.

I dunno man, Gorgeous Borges (with Heiko) seems like a better fit for The Lovers, but that might just be me...

I'd recommend using imgur.com rather than photobucket

If any Michigan coach is "The Magician", it's Mattison, no?

the card. It looks like an infinity symbol, AB, and an "I". I assume the "I" is a return to that familiar formation, the others have me stumped.

AB=Al Borges?

Oh, and although the I doubly fits for I formation, I is actually the number of the Magician card in the tarot deck...

This idea really appeals to the new spiritual path in my life. Within the past year my sister-in-law came out of the closet as a medium. Unfortunately, I don't know a whole lot about the cards and what they mean. What I do know is that a tarot reader developes their own meanings for cards after using a deck for a long time.
So as I have learned with these metaphysical things just let your intuition lead you. If you feel compeled to make someone a certain card, you are probably correct in doing so.
If you created an actual deck my wife would probably buy it for me, just sayin.

There isn't a "Fat As Shit" Tarot card you could have dumped his ass on?

I did consider making him "The Fool" after last year's OSU game, but I found more I liked with "The Magician."

Borges a magician? Made the best of the players "thrust" upon him? I disagree on both fronts.
