Reminder: There is a Michigan Bar Sticky/Map on the site
Just a friendly reminder to the board that there is a sticky and map to show Michigan friendly bars throughout the world. The sticky thread is available either by clicking this link or under the drop down menu under MGoBoard. The map is found in the OP there or by clicking this link.
Maybe we could use this space to list omissions, talk about the pros and cons of places you've watched the game before. Someone willing to update the map with new suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

August 27th, 2013 at 11:23 AM ^
There is one bar listed but does anyone know if there are more?
August 27th, 2013 at 11:47 AM ^
I would also like to know if there is a spot in Jacksonville. I haven't heard of or seen any.
August 27th, 2013 at 12:37 PM ^
I heard you can watch it at umfan323's house. Pants optional.
August 27th, 2013 at 12:54 PM ^

Last year I posted this question on the board and was told to go to Black Finn... I got there about the same time as the Ohio Alumni Association arrived.

Glad you started this, as I just looked at that yest. I will be in St Augustine, FL for a wedding this weekend, does anyone have any recommendations for watching the game downtown there?

we should sticky this to redirect to the sticky

Any good places to watch in Metro Detroit? You know, besides Ann Arbor and the Big House.
August 27th, 2013 at 2:25 PM ^
Actually a good question. So far I've found that places in Chicago (Duffys) and D.C. are in fact way better places to watch a Michigan game than anywhere in Metro Detroit, or even Ann Arbor for that matter. It would be cool if Metro Detroit had a centralized location like that which went all out on gamedays.
August 27th, 2013 at 4:14 PM ^
I've been to Professor Thom's in NYC and Duffy's in Chicago and greatly enjoyed the atmosphere. You think there'd be a demand for a Michigan bar around Detroit. Every sports bar will show the game, but none really commit to the experience, if you know what I mean.

You can go to the Fox and Hound in Edison, NJ. It may be a OSU Alumni Bar (not sure here), but they have dedicated 1 room to Michigan games (with sound) the 3-4 times I have been there.
Can someone add that to the list?
August 27th, 2013 at 12:21 PM ^
I believe there's a group that gets together at the Princeton Sports Bar & Grill (in Princeton). I don't know if it's every week but I've been there and there's been about 20 or so M fans
August 27th, 2013 at 11:59 AM ^
(Allentown, Easton, Bethlehem) in PA?
August 27th, 2013 at 12:04 PM ^
Anyone in Jackson, MS? No? Ok :-/
August 27th, 2013 at 12:32 PM ^
Does anybody know of a place around Stuttgart in Germany to watch the games?
August 27th, 2013 at 12:37 PM ^
Cleveland? On the West Side?
I got rid of cable, so I'm going to have to hit up bars for the bigger games.
August 27th, 2013 at 12:50 PM ^
People in Ithaca NY a group meets at Little Joe's bar. Game almost always has sound and good number of people.
In Syracuse NY people meet at Suds and last season every game had sound except once when Syracuse beat Louisville I believe.
August 27th, 2013 at 1:04 PM ^
we're going to be in ithaca this weekend for a family wedding. it's early, so there is a good chance we will be able to catch some/all of the game. is there a way i can find out how it will be broadcast in ithaca, if at all? i'm not sure we'll have the ability to make it to little joe's, though that would be fun, but we'll have access to a television.
August 27th, 2013 at 1:13 PM ^
Check the broadcast maps that I'm sure will be posted on here by Thursday or Friday. If you get lucky where ever you are staying has that channel.

I think you can also see what games - if any - are airing in which ZIP code and through which provider on the BTN Gamefinder site as well, and I believe the BTN site even has a list of hotels with the network. That, however, is confined to placed near Big Ten venues, I believe (could be wrong though).

When I lived in Syracuse 2 years back, good sports bars were sorely lacking, but the guy who owns Suds downtown is a big Michigan fan and would almost always put on sound as long as games didn't directly conflict with 'Cuse's. I ran into 5 or 6 different Michigan fans there during the season, which is kind of a lot for 'Cuse.
Also, in Tipp Hill, Rosie's was usually pretty nice about putting on sound and usually had a few fans of different Big Ten teams. I do think one of the managers is a State grad, though, and had put the State fight song as a discount play on the juxebox... it got ugly during that game. There was an older guy with one seriously retro Michigan sweatshirt who was there almost every week and fun to chat football with.
I did make a couple road trips to Ithaca and the game was always on at Joe's. Almost everyone who watches there is an extraordinarily hungover Cornell or Ithaca grad student. The week of the Michigan-Illiois game in 2010 they decided to take shots every time Michigan scored. It was a poor decision.

Somehow missed that the poster above had mentioned Suds. Glad to have corroboration, though. :)

Anyone in Wichita, Kansas? I see Michigan gear all the time, but haven't found a place to go. Also see too much Ohio gear, too.
August 27th, 2013 at 1:02 PM ^
Can anyone confirm that the Duffy's on PGA in Palm Beach Gardens/North Palm Beach is still a Michigan bar? It was last updated on the map in 2010.
August 27th, 2013 at 1:04 PM ^
Philadelphia: Fox & Hound @ 15th & Spruce
Suburbs: Boat House in Conshocken
Don't know of any in the South Jersey suburbs but would love to if such a place/group exists

Fort Wayne?
August 27th, 2013 at 1:58 PM ^
I don't know how to/ who has the ability to add locations, but in Marin Co. CA we have a very large group of North Bay loyalists who will be meeting this season @ Wipeout in Greenbrea.
We had upwards of 50 for final 4, probably just about take over the entire place for UTL2... swing by if in SF~ North Bay
August 27th, 2013 at 2:17 PM ^
I've lived here for a little bit and I've not been able to locate one. For god sakes there's an Ohio Alumni Club and Penn State one. Do we need to start one here?
August 27th, 2013 at 2:18 PM ^
And no there are none on the map.
August 27th, 2013 at 5:04 PM ^
on Brentwood
August 27th, 2013 at 2:21 PM ^
In Pacific Beach, go to PB Bar & Grill on Garnet Ave., Moondoggies right next door is an ohio bar, don't go in there.
August 27th, 2013 at 2:43 PM ^
Thanks for the info!
Mick, do you know of anything not in PB, Mission Valley or North County? Specifically looking Downtown/East Village/North Park, etc. I know there are the three alumni spots, but as a downtown resident, it's kind of annoying trying to get out to those places. I know it won't be an alumni spot, but not sure if you're aware of any informal gatherings of M fans elsewhere.
August 27th, 2013 at 11:10 PM ^
There's a bar in Gaslamp area called the 5th Quarter, I believe. Big place, sports bar, might not be an M bar, but I'm sure there will be some M fans you'll meet, we're everywhere!!!
August 27th, 2013 at 2:27 PM ^
I posted this in the stickied thread, but it already got buried -- I'll be in NYC for other reasons this weekend. Anyone have an opinion on which bar is best if I'll be by myself and thus not making a table reservation? Any chance of getting a bar seat (or leaning spot) with a good screen view if I go early to one of them? I am not constrained to one area of town, and I do love an enthusiastic Michigan crowd (ideally one that actually cares about the game... as much as you can care about CMU).
August 27th, 2013 at 2:34 PM ^
But if you go to Prof Thom's you can easily get a bar seat by yourself. If you get there a bit late, there's always standing room near the bar.
August 27th, 2013 at 3:34 PM ^
you should be fine at either spot to grab a seat at the bar, particuarly if you get there early... also, if you want to join in on a table, that might be possible to arrange.. i'd suggest reaching out to the club leaders to see if they can fit an out-of-towner in at one of their tables...

Oh, I also noticed that on the map, The Place is still listed as one of the Michigan bars. I do not believe that to be accurate. Also, it kind of sucked even when it was a Michigan bar....
August 27th, 2013 at 2:47 PM ^
The Salt Lake bar listed on the map is incorrect (I believe). I just received an e-mail from the local alumni group (http://alumni.umich.edu/clubs/saltlake) that the bar for this year will be Gracie's. See you there?

Hey all,
I was the one who created and maintained the map in the original thread. So, it turns out that having a 1-year-old is not really conducive to spending a ton of time on mgoblog. If someone else could take over the map, I would really appreciate it. Google maps makes it really easy to update, I just don't have the free time these days. Shoot me an email at jayloh-at-gmail-dot-com and I'll gladly hand over the reins.

Tried to find a place to watch the Alabama game last year. Fail.
August 27th, 2013 at 7:43 PM ^
So in a display of incredible lack of ability to plan, we scheduled our family vacation to end the same day as the Notre Dame game. I will be halfway between Hilton Head and Columbus b the time the game starts, and it appears that is a dearth of not only places to watch the game, but even any kind of decent accomodations where I could stay and watch the game overnight. Any reccomendations?

Hi, in DC, Pour House and Buffalo Billiards are replaced by RFD now.

In Rochester, NY the Brickwood on Monroe Ave is owned by a HUGE Michigan fan and he always has the games on. There are some alumni and fans that watch, but I'm not sure if the place is 'official'.
I've also heard that the Thirsty Turtle, near Victor, NY is a Michigan-friendly place, but I've never really gone there to find out.
I’m in Orlando for Spring break and there isn’t a listing on here. I’m going to watch the Final Four at a Peruvian restaurant. Lot’s of Michigan gear in Florida this week. Everyone is representing.
