that he wears a different number. Yes, Peppers has a chance to be the next Woodson, but i would like to see him create his own legacy at michigan

He'll take a number that no upperclassman has. And when a number frees up that he wants, he'll get that. I love Peppers as much as the next guy, but he still needs to earn anything and everything once he's here. And after reading and seeing interviews he's been in, I'm sure he'd be the first to tell you that nothing's going to be given to him. It's a common theme these recruits have been reiterating, furthering our "Hoke only recruits classy men" ideal.
That said, if he wants #2 and that number turns into what #1 is for WRs, that would be pretty awesome.

Peppers has specified that he wants to wear the number 5 jersey when he is at Michigan. It opens up for a DB after this year. Number 5 is his current HS number.

You would actually think he should go up, given that he is uncommitted and being pursued by some of the top teams in the country. Since he was a fringe 5* guy, I thought he was a good candidate to move up as a vehicle to sell more subscriptions.

If you sort it by school, seven in this list are committed to Alabama, three to Clemson, Tennessee, Florida and Miami (YTM), and four each to Notre Dame, Texas A&M and Georgia. Of the 58 who are currently committed, a little over 60% of them are going to any one of eight or so schools. It's rather interesting.

I noticed a similar trend. I'm sure it has always been like this, but there really are few teams that have a legitimate shot at most top players every year. Sure, teams like Stanford and Oregon can have windows of competitiveness, but the blue bloods of football really are as entrenched as you'll find in American sports.

If you go by ESPN's rankings, that's pretty much what we look like. It all depends on the source of the rankings...

ESPN is more positive on Michigan, but not nearly that positive. Michigan still only has 1 top 50 player on ESPN and 3 top 100 players. Michigan has a lot more players in the 101-150 range (6 of them).
