He'll take a number that no upperclassman has.  And when a number frees up that he wants, he'll get that.  I love Peppers as much as the next guy, but he still needs to earn anything and everything once he's here.  And after reading and seeing interviews he's been in, I'm sure he'd be the first to tell you that nothing's going to be given to him.  It's a common theme these recruits have been reiterating, furthering our "Hoke only recruits classy men" ideal.

That said, if he wants #2 and that number turns into what #1 is for WRs, that would be pretty awesome.

I didn't see a link in the OP - the comprehensive list is here (LINK)

If you sort it by school, seven in this list are committed to Alabama, three to Clemson, Tennessee, Florida and Miami (YTM), and four each to Notre Dame, Texas A&M and Georgia. Of the 58 who are currently committed, a little over 60% of them are going to any one of eight or so schools. It's rather interesting.

The supporting article, in which they discuss several people on the list, is here (LINK)

I noticed a similar trend.  I'm sure it has always been like this, but there really are few teams that have a legitimate shot at most top players every year.  Sure, teams like Stanford and Oregon can have windows of competitiveness, but the blue bloods of football really are as entrenched as you'll find in American sports.

If and when hand commits, we will have one of the most impressive d line hauls I can remember. Hand, McDowell, Marshall, mone....add that to Mario, taco, Pipkins ....all being coached by hoke and mattison. I really don't see anyone running on that d line. And the pass rush from the ends will be epic. Peppers and dymonte will be picking off passes from hurried qb's left and right. After what hoke and mattison pulled off in turning around rr's defense, I can only imagine what they develop with these talented players. I would love to see 1 more lockdown corner and ball hawking safety, and this will be an all star defense.

As great as our recruiting has been - and I'm quite pleased with it, no complaints - OSU's recruiting is poised to be off the charts, at least according to these rankings. In addition to the 5 top 100 prospects they've already landed, there is Raekwon MacMillan (#16) and Lattimore (#54) that conventional wisdom says will be Buckeyes. They are also still in on (at least) Damien Prince (#11), Solomon Thomas (#24), John Smith (#26), Jamal Adams (#29), Lawrence Jones (#33), Damien Mama (#38), Malik McDowell, Clifton Garrett (#47), Thomas Holley (#67). Thankfully some play the same position so they can't take them all. Sickening.

ESPN is more positive on Michigan, but not nearly that positive. Michigan still only has 1 top 50 player on ESPN and 3 top 100 players. Michigan has a lot more players in the 101-150 range (6 of them).
