Cancel the season.
By the way, only one of those bozos picked Notre Dame to go 12-0.
August 18th, 2013 at 5:16 PM ^
but the commenters are leaning more toward 12-0, for ridiculous reasons like "any chance of pulling of them pulling out a win in the 4th will be snuffed out by our D" and "not sold on Gardner," which I think is hilarious.
August 18th, 2013 at 5:23 PM ^
You really need to find something else to occupy your time for the next two weeks.
August 18th, 2013 at 5:26 PM ^
No one has time for ND jokes these days.
August 18th, 2013 at 5:43 PM ^
Or threads. Negged
August 19th, 2013 at 11:52 AM ^
"predict the season record" post on here, and see what the percentage of posters who said 12-0 or undefeated (whether serious or not) was. And they were actually 12-0 last season, so it's less crazy than one of us saying so.
August 18th, 2013 at 10:25 PM ^
Not sold on Gardner? Any ND fan that claims they wouldn't rather have Gardner over Rees on their team is either stupid or a liar.
August 18th, 2013 at 11:19 PM ^
Although I agree with you for the most part, saying "I'm not sold on X" when X is any player with 5 starts isn't exactly a bold statement either. It's not like Gardner is going into his third year at the helm. I know he looked good, but I'm sure there are plenty of M fans who aren't sold on Gardner either.
August 19th, 2013 at 3:51 AM ^
I was never sold on Denard as a QB and I feel like he hurt himself in this years draft by not providing a bigger sample size of himself as a RB/ATH., he was exciting and fast but prone to mistakes and never had a presence in the pocket and he drove me nuts with his throwing off balance and off the back of his foot.
I wonder if ND fans realize that had Devin been the QB from the beginning, I think we would've won that game by a good 10 points last year. We lost by one score despite 6 TO's, 5 by Denard and the other one by Smith because the coaches thought he was a better choice to throw the ball into the endzone than the QB, what does that tell you?
I think we will beat them by double digits this year, they had a miracle run and got lucky so often, ain't gonna happen again, particularly in consecutive years. Hoke and Borges finally can do things the way they have intended from the beginning but couldn't till now, this is gonna be a fun year folks, we may be young, but we have a lot of talent.
August 19th, 2013 at 9:21 AM ^
This is probably true, and Gardner will more than likely have moments this season where he will look bad on the field. Facing off against a defense the caliber of Notre Dame's will be one of those instances where this could be a high probability. That said, I still would argue that Bobby Rees, with all his experience, hasn't done all that much to impress the ND fanbase.
I mean, if we look at this from the converse viewpoint, specifically, how many U of M fans would swap Devin Gardner for Tommy Rees? I think the number opting for that would be pretty low. Gardner just has a higher ceiling than Rees, period.
August 19th, 2013 at 7:44 PM ^
I agree with you, but the ND poster wasn't comparing DG to Rees, he was just saying he wasn't sold on DG. ND fans are acknowledging that QB won't be one if their strongest spots, whereas UM fans are. The ND fan was just calling into question one of our supposed strengths, not saying that their QB is better.
August 19th, 2013 at 5:10 PM ^
IF your not sold then you should watch the south carolina game film!!!
August 19th, 2013 at 7:46 PM ^
I didn't say I wasn't sold, but one good game doesn't make a QB great.
August 18th, 2013 at 5:16 PM ^
Does it matter though?
Also, I watched two movies this weekend. Elysium and Zero Dark Thirty. Zero dark thirty is excellent. Elysium is shrug inducing.
August 18th, 2013 at 5:27 PM ^
was just flat out awful, much like the OP's link. Easy solution: unless you like pointless and unenjoyable things, see neither.
August 18th, 2013 at 5:52 PM ^
Zero dark thirty was a terrific film.
August 18th, 2013 at 6:26 PM ^
It was a well acted film but I really don't think it came together like she wanted. No new ground covered, no old ground coverned in any way that provided additional insight into the events depicted. I thought it was actually a surprisingly hollow film given the subject matter.
August 18th, 2013 at 6:08 PM ^
Elysium was "well made" in the thematic sense, nut was too depressing and pointless to be enjoyable.
August 18th, 2013 at 5:14 PM ^
For the sake of the board, the season needs to start now.
August 18th, 2013 at 5:15 PM ^
They will lose to Michigan, Oklahoma, Air Force, and Stanford and then go to Pizza Bowl and lose.
August 18th, 2013 at 5:48 PM ^
only 11 games? WTF, ND?
August 18th, 2013 at 5:17 PM ^
do the same? I look at our schedule, see 12 winnable games, and expect 10 or 11 wins.
August 18th, 2013 at 5:17 PM ^
Just unrealistic expectations. Agree with post below, season needs to start soon.
August 18th, 2013 at 5:17 PM ^
Omg lolz so what? One ND guy said 12-0.. every year you can ask me about Michigan and I'll tell you 12-0
August 18th, 2013 at 6:31 PM ^
Can we not be such homers that we take one staff writer saying 12-0 and a subset of dedicated, biased fans saying 12-0 is a big deal? Not exactly a representative sample.
August 18th, 2013 at 6:45 PM ^
it was 1 out of like 7 guys, I'm sure he is a ND fan as well who cares
August 18th, 2013 at 5:18 PM ^
Unless you want to see something that doesn't match the title of this thread. Instead, just say as loud as you can, "To hell with Notre Dame," and go back to enjoying your Sunday.
August 18th, 2013 at 5:20 PM ^
Did someone remove the OT label? I thought OT meant anything not strictly about Michigan football.
August 18th, 2013 at 5:22 PM ^
You think ND football doesn't relate to Michigan football? What happens under the lights then?
August 18th, 2013 at 5:24 PM ^
Hmm. Yeah, I suppose. I've always operated under the assumption of "When In Doubt Make It OT."
August 18th, 2013 at 5:28 PM ^
I've been doing that since the announcement that ended OT season, partly to head off the fifty comment discussions on it and partly because it's a pet peeve of Brian's and that was as good a time as any to start. Normally when something gets changed we leave a note, but I don't think it's worth anyone's time for adding or removing two letters and a colon.
On topic is anything relating to the University, anything about M sports, future opponents or other conference members. NCAA sports at large and M alumni stories are "grey area" and stuff about the site is meta. Everything else is off topic.
August 18th, 2013 at 5:20 PM ^
So wait - a bunch of ND fans pick them to go 9-3 and one guy says 12-0 and this is board worthy? Holy shit.
August 18th, 2013 at 5:22 PM ^
Well, it might not be as board-worthy as the "I retired today" or "Welcome my newborn to the MGo community" threads, but if you want a chuckle, check out the delusion.
If that's not your thing, avert your eyes.
August 18th, 2013 at 5:28 PM ^
That is off-season stuff. This is just, I don't know.
August 18th, 2013 at 5:26 PM ^
No doubt, what has this blog come to… Is there no news worthy topics to start a thread about?
August 18th, 2013 at 5:21 PM ^
Well that ruined my Sunday.
August 18th, 2013 at 5:29 PM ^
They beat us last year. Right?
August 18th, 2013 at 5:51 PM ^
You do realize we gave that game away with poor play on offense. I think any team with a respectable defense would've beat us in that game last year.
August 18th, 2013 at 7:56 PM ^
Didn't ND give away the game to us two years ago? You guys need to get out of your fantasy worlds.
August 18th, 2013 at 8:40 PM ^
No, Robinson almost gave that game away as well. I love the winning moments, but I am a realist.
August 19th, 2013 at 1:57 AM ^
A "realist" who says something to the effect of "we would have won, if we didn't give the game away."
I would be a professional ice skater if someone paid me to ice skate. I suppose that is realistic, even if its not exactly brilliant.
August 18th, 2013 at 5:53 PM ^
you do realize they suck.right?
August 18th, 2013 at 5:27 PM ^
My dad can bet up their dad.
August 18th, 2013 at 5:30 PM ^
This is a bad thread, and you should feel bad.
August 19th, 2013 at 11:16 AM ^
You guys take this board way too seriously.
August 18th, 2013 at 5:33 PM ^
I'm here to chew gum and comment on terrible posts. And I'm all out of gum
August 18th, 2013 at 5:35 PM ^
Was it Lou Holtz? He seems to do that every year.
August 18th, 2013 at 5:48 PM ^
deal
August 18th, 2013 at 6:01 PM ^
I am predicting a huge win for Michigan over ND - does that even it out?
