Moderator Action Sticky #3

Submitted by Brian on

Hello. The previous mod action sticky was cumbrously long so this is a new one. What this thread is for:

This thread is an ad-hoc way of tracking what threads and comments get removed. Mods that remove a thread should post the title here with a brief reason as to why the thread is gone.

NOTE: if you leave an irrelevant comment in this thread it will be deleted.

Update: There's now a Mod Action Sticky IV.

Countdown to Kickoff: Day 17

Believe it or not, this is what the "Haiku Hump Day" thread has in it. The non-intuitive thread title is a tribute to the fun that folks like to have around here, I would say.

That's impressive. In "Name That Tune" fashion, is that a record for fewest posts to cause a lock?

Pretty tame for the parties involved, but the slop probably had been slipped at that point.

Though I think the response came after a few more "normal" posts were already below it. But was doooommmmeeedddd.

So I was 5 seconds late to the party...

Is the article new?  This seems like pretty pertinent Michigan Football information that I would like to read, even if people are being idiots.

Why not close the thread and leave the OP so we can direct ourselves to the article?

EDIT: Nevermind, that's exactly what was done, either before or after my post.  I may never know...

Woodley sacks Kork Coupons

I am going to call an early end to this one. Without video and with the "Kork Coupons" reference, it just doesn't seem like this one would go much of anywhere.

Only reason not to can this quickly was the OP is generally awesome in all ways on the board.

Especially in-season, no nondescriptive headlines for the sake of a lark--I don't want readers to start feeling manipulated when they click on something.

Waaaayy OT: Ben Affleck is Batman

Yeah, "Waaaayy OT" is an admission of failure in the "No OT" season. For future reference, the gray area in the "No OT" season is essentially siginificant pro sports events and very little else beyond that.

OT: Stupidest Ebay seller of the year goes to this guy.

I am going to pull this one a little earlier than I normally would. I have a difficult time imagining what sort of constructive discussion could stem from the premise of this thread.

ESPN Wolverine Nation closes

It has been a few days now, but this information was indeed already posted, or at least proper warning was given. In any case, it seems like remnants of the site survive on the ESPN blogs and in a few other places.

Could someone take down this post by JohnnyBlue in the Damien Harris 5 Star thread (http://mgoblog.com/mgoboard/rivalscom-first-five-stars-damien-harris#comment-2140563)

It's a rather grisly picture of a dead horse in response to a pretty overdone topic.  For those who have not had their souls steeled by the internet and it's collection of awful images, it could probably fall under the category of really disturbing.  At the very least, it shouldn't be on the board.

This looks like a Michigan Team

This likely could go in the snowflake threads. It is the first game, and there is excitement - I suppose we'll go with two for this week, but next week, one postgame / snowflake thread, if you would, folks.

Official: College Gameday will be at UTL II

I blame the chaos of having to go into work for missing this, but yes, it was posted earlier today.

27 true and redshirt freshmen played today

There's already a thread about just the redshirt part, but the rest of this has been discussed at some length in the two snowflake threads left running.

...and some early morning stuff (September 1st):

Game Day 09 September 2013

This was posted yesterday, but I would say that the excitement that we have for this game is appreciated all the same.

Dear Devin Gardner, Hold on to the damn ball.

They are off the first page now, but this does not meet the minimum requirements for its own thread apart from the snowflake threads. Also, not sure what this was meant to accomplish in the first place other than to be inflammatory.

Gameday: ND weekend

Wow, folks. However, so the OP is aware, it was not lack of proof - as you'll note above, several threads following the original one yesterday morning have since lived and died.

-------------------------------------------

Ben Braden should be the starter next week against Notre Dame

as well as

Shane Morris should be the starter next week against Notre Dame

The Shane Morris thread was meant as a jab at the Derrick Green thread, and although initially I considered leaving it, I took it down to err on the side of caution - it really isn't a good idea to have threads ridiculing the opinions of other users up for any protracted period. The Derrick Green thread is now sufficiently developed that I think the OP can see what the general board consensus would be.

September 2nd, 2013....

Zoltan Mesko released by NE

Granted, it was mentioned initially on Saturday, but it was also at least talked about in one or two other threads about Michigan players cut from various NFL teams.

Another OSU player strikes again [Sullenger arrested]

I know there was a mod attempt to salvage this already, but it isn't going well and likely will continue to not go well. It is probably better that this comes down at this point.

No Drew Sharp. His entire existence is to say stupid things that will get repeated. In grade school he was probably the kid who made up the rumor that so and so was making out with what's her face in the trophy hall and then realized he was really popular when all the friends of so and so and what's her face confronted him about what he knew.

Anyway no Drew Sharp.

Hoke: Johnny Football would play behind Devin Gardner

This was covered in the thread about Hoke's appearance on Dan Patrick this morning. Awesome stuff, to be sure, but alas a duplicate.

Sept. 7th, 2013 - Early morning cleanup:

You are in the crowd to help

I didn't take this down last night because two rum and Cokes make me mellow, but yeah, not sure if pontificating about making noise to some of the most passionate among Michigan fans is the best idea.

MGoRant: Fiancée Edition

This is beyond the scope of this blog, and it is probably something your should discuss with you wife-to-be. It is likely best that this remains off a public forum.

Brian Kelly Calls Plays?

This one might be argued either way, but it seems to me that it falls slightly below the snowflake line. I'll take it down for now in the interests of board cleanup, but if there's a good reason for it to go back up, it can.

God Bless Turnover Tommy

This one seems like a bit of a stretch - maybe this is me being a little overly aggressive, but I have a feeling that a majority of the replies are going to state what was evident, which was that Rees had a good game overall. I will say that his QB rating for the game was 113.7 to Devin's 186.8, but I don't know if that's enough in itself to go here. This, it might be a good idea to keep the cap on Photoshop / GIF threads at one or two - if someone does want to GIF the 2nd interception, feel free to place into one of the existing threads.

MSMoo fan meltdown after UM beats ND

Where to start with this one....first, I will say that "MSMoo" gets a resounding "no, just no" because this is a classy establishment. Second, the demographics of MGoBlog create a situation where the level of interest in what Spartans think of Michigan is quite low, as it should be. I suppose the overall assessment here is:

My Apologies

You are quite forgiven, but remember the "snowflake" restrictions are in effect.

Things the Football Team Must Get Corrected

I looked at the OPs history, and it looks like there has been quite the gap in their posts, so apologies if it seems harsh to remove this. Although it is on the second page now and falling, there is a "Snowflake Thread" for postgame thoughts. It is much easier to have compliments / criticisms in as few threads as possible so as not to dilute the content of the board.
