How many team jerseys do you own?

Submitted by victors2000 on
My first jersey was the #2, and I followed that by a #80. This year I purchased #55 and considered purchasing #4 but I stopped myself, thinking, wait a minute, your on your way to having the whole team! Shortly after I left the store I started thinking, what's wrong with that? So what if I'll have to build a couple more closets! So how many jerseys do you guys own?

Football: - 1997 #2 home authentic - 2006 #20 Nike alternate maize - 2008 #2 away authentic Basketball: - 1993 #5 maize authentic - 1993 #5 authentic reversible practice jersey - 2007 #24 blue authentic Note: I did not buy the #24 for Ron Coleman. I was hoping for one of our incoming recruits to take his number and it was on sale for $20.

I think when you are 5+ years out of UM, you gotta give up the jersey look. Dropping the cargo pants and skateboarder sneakers are good moves as well. Lastly, no more Jagerbombs at Goodtime Charley's. Slightly OT: I sort of wish Michigan would drop the name on the back ala ND or PSU. A real fan knows the key numbers or can navigate the roster inside a program. I particularly loathe the jerseys that have a first name abbreviated. Just the jersey, and a number, should be enough. That way, you buy a Mike Hart 20 and it now looks solid as a Michael Shaw 20. (I know Michigan has multiple players with the same numbers; but I still would drop the names...) [/rant]

"Lastly, no more Jagerbombs at Goodtime Charley's." NEVER! Also I don't own a jersey. I wish I had bought a woodson jersey back in the day, but I'm incredibly cheap and $70 for a jersey I'll wear 4-5 times /year is too much. However if Tate Forcier continues his excellent play I'm going to be tempted. I'm much more than 5 years out of UM too....

I too prefer hoodies and T's but I broke down and got the 2009 authentic #5 when I went into the ND game. I would really like a #68 authentic but have yet to find one and quite honestly would do it injustice since my arms are not as big as fire hydrants!

Any secrets as to what the best way to wash an authentic jersey to keep it looking its best for years to come? Thanks, I'll take your comments off the air!

There is some debate over the plural form of jersey. It's either "jerseys" or "jersies," but at any rate, it most certainly isn't "jersey's". That aside, I sadly have to agree that after about age 30, wearing a team jersey starts to look a little odd.

I only have 1 "old" school Nike jersey. It's an authentic Stevie Breaston home jersey (Yeah that's right I hopped on the Stevie B bandwagon his Freshman year). I also have an authentic maize hockey jersey (also of the nike persuasion circa 2003 and yes both jerseys were bought the same year and I need to upgrade said jerseys) So I have to ask if jerseys are not proper attire for older gentlemen then what is?

I actually still have a Tyrone Wheatley Jersey from the early 90's. And yes...even though I'm 41 years old, I still wear it to the sports bar here in Atlanta every saturday in the fall (and switching in my Mike Hart jersy now and then as well). So yes, i am of course biased (or senile?), but in this context I don't think you are ever too old to sport a jersy as long as a) you are at a sports bar supporting your team or b) you are going to a game. I'll concede that it looks a little silly for a 40+ year old man to wear the jersy out to the grocery store.

I am 30 and wear my jersey. Now mind you, it is on gameday when I go to a bar to watch the game or a buddies house. I do not wear it to go out for the night with my wife or anything but I would like to think it is acceptable to wear it to support your team. And if it is not, well I guess I am just a fashion misfit.

I'm 42 and have accumulated over the years. Blue #6 Ty Wheatley at the time I have two if these my (wife) then girlfriend got one too they're both big enough to wear with shoulder pads. Blue # 10 Guess who. Brady at the time. White # 37 Sword I believe at the time. Blue # 32 A. Thomas White # 15 S. Breaston when I got it, but 15 has always been my fav. number so it was a bonus. Blue # 4 I got for Christmas this year . B. Minor of course. I also have a few B-ball, a hockey and a faux baseball jersey. You can take the boy out of Michigan but you can't take the Maize and Blue out of the boy. GO BLUE !!!!!!!!!!!

Irons (blue) Woodson (white) G. Watson (blue) I won't buy another one. I feel like a creeper wearing the jersey of a stranger who's younger than me. Just a personal thing. No offense to the rest of you--by all means, creep away.

a Woodson #2 throwback that I occasionally wear for games. Yes, a jersey from '97 is now a throwback. I also can't wear the jersey of a man younger than me for some reason.

The one and only jersey I own was a gift from my cousin that attended the university. It's a #33 Leroy Hoard and he gave it to me for Christmas when I was 10 or 11 yrs old. Still looks great. That being said, as I have grown older I personally find it strange to jock a college kid by putting his name on your back. T's and hoodies for me as well.

#15 away jersey from the Breaston years (present from my dad when I was in middle school) Eli Manning Superbowl XLII (This one is cursed and can never be worn by me on a Sunday. See 1st half of Superbowl XLII and last year's Browns game.) Red Wings jersey, women's size, no number (...gift) and none of them are that stupid girly pink. In fact, the first two are men's small and pretty much dress length on me.

many of them are practice/game-worn purchased at UM Ath Dept Garage Sales over the years, some are replicas from Moe's or M-Den. Most (50+) are football jerseys, a few basketball (including easier-to-get women's jerseys), and a few hockey. All are Michigan jerseys. Pro sports suck. I wear them all, esp at games, and will continue to do so. When the #4 and #5 FB home jerseys go on clearance in Dec, I will probably buy them too.
