OT: International Friendly: USMNT at Bosnia-Herzegovina

Some decent stuff by the US in the first half, particularly Altidore. They're unlucky to be down 2 (the second goal was offside).
But horrible half for Jones and, to a lesser extent, Eddie Johnson. You can't turn it over deep in your half.

Hmmm...This turned into a bad pick for my Streak for The Cash.
August 14th, 2013 at 4:04 PM ^
LOL - I was sweating (and still am) this one out as well.
August 14th, 2013 at 6:10 PM ^
Wow...they won! Holy....
August 14th, 2013 at 3:37 PM ^

GOAAAAAAAAAAL! Bradley to Jozy to Eddie Johnson. 2-1!
August 14th, 2013 at 3:55 PM ^
Goal US.
Great ball over the top to Altidore, with a great run and first touch to Johnson, who finished into an open net.

It's nostalgia night in international soccer: England-Scotland (first international game) and France-Belgium (first international game for both teams) . . . so why are we playing Bosnia? Our first opponent was Sweden.
August 14th, 2013 at 3:58 PM ^
GOOOL. Altidore ties it.
August 14th, 2013 at 4:00 PM ^
5th goal in five games for Jozy -- a new US record!
August 14th, 2013 at 4:00 PM ^
Awesome!
August 14th, 2013 at 4:06 PM ^
Goals galore!!!! Now if we can get rid of GERG...
August 14th, 2013 at 4:07 PM ^
Huge save by Howard right there.
August 14th, 2013 at 4:14 PM ^
Nifty little play by Johannsson right there to get a shot off. I like the hustle he seems to bring to the table.
August 14th, 2013 at 4:16 PM ^
What a touch by Johannsson! Almost got his first US goal right there.
August 14th, 2013 at 4:17 PM ^
He looks great. He's got a touch and imagination that reminds me of Dempsey.
August 14th, 2013 at 4:19 PM ^
But looks to be more athletic.
August 14th, 2013 at 11:27 PM ^
I was very impressed with him as well - Icelandic power! If he can continue this he will make up for Stuart Holden loss. Excellent 2nd half to beat another European team on their home turf and Bosnia is no pushover - they are tops in their table to make it WC, albeit a weak group with only Greece as a challenger. But still, we don't usually do well in Europe. Bradley also made some fantastic passes and IMO is the best American player at the moment.... by a substantial margin.

JOZY!!! Holy cow, what a golden year it's been for Jozy. Unbelievable to see what he's getting done up front these days.
August 14th, 2013 at 4:25 PM ^
Full credit to Castillo for winning that free kick with a great run.

What a clever, perfectly-weighted touch from Bradley to set that up. Life is so much fun as a striker when you get service like that.
August 14th, 2013 at 4:26 PM ^
Altidore with another!
August 14th, 2013 at 4:29 PM ^
Oh no.
August 14th, 2013 at 4:29 PM ^
B-H pull one back. Flick header.
August 14th, 2013 at 4:32 PM ^
There's the whistle. Great result, great performance from the offense & Jozy especially. 12 in a row!
August 14th, 2013 at 4:33 PM ^
Victory! 12 straight wins. How sweet it is.
August 14th, 2013 at 4:34 PM ^
Love to see Altidore rounding into form and some promissing performances from young players
August 14th, 2013 at 4:35 PM ^
If Johannson plays like that, it's going to get pretty crowded in the US attack.
August 14th, 2013 at 5:16 PM ^
August 14th, 2013 at 11:29 PM ^
Well he is taking Jozy's spot as a striker for club, I wonder if he has any defensive mind set to play an outside midfield spot - if he does, it would alter the ability to attack for the entire team.
August 14th, 2013 at 4:50 PM ^
The power went out at the bar I was watching the game at when it was 2-2. I went home, and final score was 4-3...crazy.

Trying to think of a top 11 for this team makes my brain hurt. If you can find a way to get Dempsey, Donovan, Bradley, Jozy, Fabian Johnson and Aron on field at the same time, that's a skilled strike force:
*****Jozy*****Aron*****
********Dempsey*******
FJ***Bradley***Donovan
Besler**Gonzo**Brooks**Dolo/Boca
********Howard***********
Shea and EJ as late subs.
Jones or Evans and defensive midfielders when Aron is off.
August 15th, 2013 at 12:05 PM ^
Having a top end left fullback is wonderful - would not move Fabian out of there. A lot of FBs make a ton of overlapping runs so we can get his offense as well as keep the defense level upgraded. Defense is the major hole in this team so we dont want to move a skilled defender to areas of relative strength. The center defenders are a big mystery, we've been trying a lot of players. There was a really young kid in the center in the 2nd half of Bosnian game who is German-American, maybe he develops in the next year. Also I've never seen the US play a 4-3-1-2 ... I'd be thrilled with a 4-4-2...
August 15th, 2013 at 12:16 PM ^
about 25 minutes of aron in a US uniform, so i think it is very premature to slot him in the top 11...right now. (same with john brooks)
klinsmann loves him some Jermaine Jones (not sure why), so i think he's in there starting, for now.
id be dissapointed if shea and EJ see meaningful time, especially shea - the guy looks like an ostrich out there.
i think beasley is in the mix, but it's hard to say what he's going to look like in 10 months. bedoya, zusi, and corona will get some play too.
