I don't think Elaydin has ever tried to closet himself. He built the app, but I don't think he's ever pretended Michigan fandom.

He's also more or less reasonable, so I'd rather him be here than the mouthbreathers in the 11W forums who just can't help but refer to Michigan as "scUM" or "Meatchicken."

Buckeye fan.  Grew up in Columbus.  Went to my first game in 1981(?), a 70-6 Ohio State win over Northwestern.  Went to every home game for the next 10+ years, except for a game against Stanford because my dad thought it was going to rain (John Elway led a come from behind victory).

Spent a couple summers at a debate camp at Michigan... parent spent a year working at the university as well.  What else would you like to know?

Didn't know you were a buckeye. No offense, but I'm surprised Brian would hire you to build the app. Nice work on it btw.

I'm pretty sure she wasn't paid off. I'm thinking she realized that if she pressed charges that she would likely have to leave town. Those buckeye fans in Columbus are fanatical.

Girl likely didn't press charges because then she would have charges pressed on her as well, seeing as she definitely swung first. Not condoning what Hyde did, but can't condone what the girl did either.

Overall, looks like a classy place, may have to visit if I'm down in Columbus and 5+ years younger.

So the woman he hit doesn't want to get involved. That obviously doesn't make hitting a woman any less cowardly and pathetic. If he's not suspended that's truly sad for Urban who has daughters himself.

She no longer wants to push the matter further. Huh, interesting. Thinking about the situation for eight days must have made her change her mind. Then again ohio fans would likely blame her if he sat out and the coveted perfect season they believe they will have was ruined.

I think this is good news regardless of whether Hyde was guilty or not. Now we can play Ohio at full strength and when we beat them they will have no excuses (except that maybe Roby wasn't on the team but that's a whole other matter). And they will not look good letting a player who was questionably involved in assaulting a women get off scot free (even if they suspend him for the first couple cupcake games they have).

Add this to the list of memes that should die.  They "yay we can play them at full strength" pile of rubbish.  No one ever remembers the injuries.  All they remember are the wins and losses.  Do you really think Ohio is tossing an asterisk over their 7 game win streak because Hart and Henne were injured in 07?  Do you really think they're tossing an asterisk over the 35-7 drubbing thanks RR and Tressel protecting Pryor and others so they could play?  The rest of the country might be but  you know Ohio fans sure as shit are not.

Anyone with the "great, now we can play them at full strength" line, please go to sleep.

Nope.  Any game against Ohio, even at half strength, is plenty preparation for any bowl game in the way a prior game might be such preparation.  Not to mention we may well play them twice this year.  I'd rather beat a half strength Ohio team twice this year, than potentially lose to a full strength Ohio team twice this year.

I don't see how it would have gone drastically different had the story occured in Ann Arbor, obviously Urbz hasn't acted yet, so I'll save my judgement on him until he either suspends Hyde or not.  However, its my personal belief that despite the problems that some guys have had over the last few years, this type of aggression would not have been committed by a Michigan player.  ohio students and players seem to find a sense of pride with the fights they can get into...

Edit:  Only downvotes, no responses?  Someone want to discuss this or just be a negative Nancy?

i didn't down vote but i'll respond and say most people probably didn't make it past your first line where you said it probably would go down the same in ann arbor.  false.  i'd bet my lunch if a michigan player intentionally and unnecessarily harmed a woman, even when she was in the wrong, he'd have his ass kicked off this team, star or otherwise.  drunk driving, shoplifting, minor theft  are all bad, but nowhere near in the same realm of degenerate value system you find in someone who unnecessarily hits, as opposed to restrains, a woman.

I'm not referring to the way the coaches would have handled it, I was referring to the media circus, the over-the-top way it was talked about and speculated, and the public making way too many earlier-than-necessary predictions of what should happen.  I tried to separate my comments from the reaction you're outlining with the addition of waiting to see how Meyer handles this.  But I agree, the Michigan justice with regards to this type of situation would be swift and just.

Sorry for the confusion...and I'm glad someone took me up on the offer to discuss.

when he obviously hit the girl?  is it becaue she isnt pressing charges?  can't the state continue to press charges?

this is so disappointing from a pure football - i want him not playing - i know im a loser sort of way.
