Awesome Denard Quote

Submitted by Marley Nowell on
"You know what? We had a walk through yesterday and after the walk through he stayed after and wanted to get extra work. We had some time left over in our daily schedule and it’s very important to him. As a coach when he’s talented like he is and it’s that important to him that’s all you ask. If he’s willing to put the time in like he is and really understand the concepts and what’s important to us then he’s got a good chance." Jaguars Head Coach Gus Bradley on Denard Robinson.

This was in reference to:

Denard Robinson connected with Mike Brown on a 25-yard pass out of the wildcat formation. Robinson also handed off to Maurice Jones-Drew for a big play out of the same formation.

yeah I'm ALMOST as excited to watch the Jaguars this year as the Wolverines.  It just sucks that I probably won't see that many Jaguars games on tv because of the region.  I'm hoping when I switch satellite companies in the next couple months it'll come with NFL Sunday Ticket for free for a few months. *crosses fingers*

That reminds me of something I thought was cool. I was watching some old Brady games and I saw Tom do so many half-rollouts just to throw straight down the center of the field to a TE. I couldn't help but think we should bring that play back for Devin.

The better question is: Will the Jaguars actually get creative and take advantage of his diverse skill set in a real game or just let him be a fun preseason distraction before shelving him on the bench/practice squad?

1. (as noted by others) the Jags suck, why not try it?

2. They call him an "offensive weapon" - why get cute with a 5th round pick otherwise?

3. A couple big plays out of the wildcat in training camp means they're at least snapping him the ball some to try it. Connecting on passes and making the right reads (hand to MJD for a big gain) will lead to the Jags trying it in a game.

My big bet is we see zero snaps to Denard in the preseason. They'll use that time to work on being a WR/RB and get him the ball conventionally. Then the Jags will run some stuff for him after the season starts.

We were offered a deal through our company to buy individual game tickets for $15 below the season ticket price.  The company is subsidizing to support the Jags......and it looks like they need a lot of help.

It looks like Gabbert and Henne will be switching between QB1 & QB2 while Denard will probably be set at as a the Wildcat QB1A. Of course people who don't know his game will say he can't throw in actual NFL game situations, but we all saw him in 2010. He can throw it just fine if the playcaller knows what they're doing.

...smart move on my part. Denard is going to be around for a loooong time. Just too much talent mixed with work ethic. However, that helmet? Gross. I see what they were trying to do...and it almost worked out, but the trasition is awesome. Bring back the SDSU transitioning helmet!
