Fournette Visit Happening

Submitted by Marlin Jackson… on

Don't shoot the messenger, by Rivals posted some quotes from Fournette's uncle stating in no uncertain terms that he will not be in AA this weekend.  It's paywalled, so no link.

Edit: it's happening. Sorry brah.

What I find most disconcerting is in all these posts not a single person says a word of condolence or concern for the Grandma who may or may not be sick, injured, etc.

This is the state of recruiting.  This is pathetic.

maybe I am overreacting.  I have for a long time refused to pay for recruiting information on a psuedophilosophical stance of not supporting the exploitation of these kids (even though I know that the exposure can be very benefitial to some students).  I allways speak out against following kids on twitter, I don't think any grown man or woman should follow a high school child on the twitterz.

I am coming to be disenfranchised, or maybe just discouraged, with the whole recruitnik environment (heck I think it is destroying the high school game at worst and exploiting teenagers at least...

I think I'm gonna stop reading the recruiting portion of this page for a while... but I would love to heare other people think about it...

Note:  I am often cheeky, or downright assholeish, but I am being honest here... I wonder what others think.

First, no one even knows for sure if his grandmother is sick.  Second, maybe it's just assumed that everyone is a normal human being and would feel bad for the family, but since this is a football/recruiting blog, they focus on the football aspect.  We don't know the family, and chances are they aren't reading the blog (although I'm aware some recruits have in the past) so an anonymous statement of concern sent out into cyberspace from a guy whos avi says "prepare thy anus" is probably not that meaningful.

edit: somehow response got bumped down

Somebody needs to goto DTW and see if he was on that flight. Just but a fully refundable ticket to anywhere, go through security and video all the passengers from all Louisiana flights.

:)

P.S. sadly, this will likely get you a job as an M sports writer somewhere.

Nice thread OP. Anonymous message board posters citing uncles are legit. Oh, and why should we believe you now? Link?

when a recruit says "I don't think I can make it but will try" or word/rumor is flat out that they can't make it they usually tend to be right and don't show. Thst said, for whatever reason, it's their right and if his Grandma is sick than I not only have zero issue with it but wish her/him/them well and hope he eventually can come up sometime. If my Grandma were seriously ill I would 100% not have a recruiting visit on my mind. I'd love to get this kid in town but life is life and it's his personal life. So, I hope he comes yet understand beyond words if that holds him back.

Webb said on 1050 this morning that Michigan fans shouldn't get too emotionally invested in Fournette's recruitment, that's he VERY unlikely to leave the SEC, that getting him on campus is nice and gives us a "punter's chance", but that it's unlikely this kid will ever wear the winged helmet.
